Thought I'd make something of a 'bucket list' thread, just to see what makes people tick when they think of the really big things, big ideas, visions etc for their lives, either short or long term.
Personally I want to do another really big travelling adventure, the open-ended type with no fixed return date, the only limit being money that's been saved for the trip. And I want to write another book about it. Like a travelogue thing - photos, words etc. I did one on my first trip around India and south-east Asia and, as lardy-dar hipster traveller cliche as it seems, I am extremely pleased with it as a solid, lifelong reminder of that part of my life. Every time I pick it up and look at a chapter, the whole experience comes back much more vividly than any amount of standalone photos or memories could ever do. The words themselves are a reminder of the person I was at that stage of life, the way I saw the world, and the way the world treated me through my own thoughts and (sometimes naive) actions.
I hope to do that again at some point. The big dream is to go from the UK overland to China, through Europe, Russia and Mongolia. I often think about doing it on a motorbike, but realistically the trip would be much more fun for me if I did it via public transport. It puts your fate much more in the hands of other random people along the journey, which is how the best adventures often begin.
This is the sort of thing I think about most when I start to daydream about the future (albeit an idealised one with no commitments or worries about 'the rest of the future after that').
Anybody else? It doesn't have to be related to travel, it could be anything really. e.g... destroying ISIS..? |

I've done most things I want to do.
One thing I've wanted to do though is to set up a private mercenary company. I want to right the wrongs of the world.
The problem is private mercenary companies cost a lot of money. A Mi24B costs $3 million and will need at the minimum $2 million in overhaul and upgrades. I'd need at least 8 of them. They are also not cheap to run and maintain. Add in crew costs and the cost Neals Ellis burned through each week and I'd need at least $400 million for a sustained campaign. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. The thing is that if you travel and adventure and love it, then my feeling is that you'll never want to stop doing that, and your whole rest of your life will be planning the next big adventure or traveling expedition, only gapped by periods of having to save money, pay bill's and help family/friends etc?
I've got no biggies really, but when my Mortgage is paid off sometime before I'm 55, I want to start planning to move out of the uk to live in a slightly warmer European climate, and somewhere still worth living unlike most parts of the UK.
I can speak a bit of Spanish, and much less Italian though I have some distant relatives and family there, but Central France seems to be where I think I'll feel most at home.
I'd like to to ride twin shock trials again in a club, and have a go at Evo era Motocross as well. Id also like a collection of rare European and Japanese 125 and 200cc 2stroke dirt bikes.
More sea fishing trips, technical terrain mountain biking and car restoration projects would be good too! |

I travelled all round the world with work and have had both wonderful and not so wonderful times.
The only real travelling I desperately want to do now is explore America. Just go off and find some hick town, population 1021, and see if it is really like the movies . Yes I'd like to do it on a bike as well!
I'd like to see my youngest daughter married off to a rich Argentinian Polo player. That's about the only way she will stop costing me a fortune and still get her horsey fix.
Oh, and I'd love to go down in one of those submersible thingys and see the Titanic in real life but that's never going to happen. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

ive travelled quite a bit, but would quite happily do more,
i think once we've finished doing up the house here in scotland
i'll push for another ski season then a year or two long camper trip from canada down to the bottom of south america, before heading back to new zealand for a few more years saving for another big trip.
i'd also like to get back into paragliding and possibly learn how to hang glide, ____________________ the humans are dead

America is the most movie-like place to the point it's almost weird.
