Just wanted to ask what tools I should get if I want to do up motorbike engines. I want to start off small with lawnmower engines and move up to 1000cc engines and try and tune them then rev the crap out of them (not the 1000cc engines). I want to get a toolbox that will last me through the time i am doing up these engines, thank you very much

Hi

Start with a basic set of half decent quality sockets, ratchets to go with them and spanners.

For most things on bikes 3/8ths drive will be fine. Few things 1/2" drive will be more useful (on an engine, bolts that are torque critical and done up nobbin tight). 1/4" drive set is useful but not essential, but a cheap set is fine.

Otherwise a few screw drivers and some pliers, then just see what you need and built the selection up as time goes on.

All the best

Katy

You should definitely have one of these on your shopping list:-

Removing flywheels on those Briggs and Stratton 35 Classics can be a real challenge without one.

You'll never have every tool, there's always something you need - but its the collecting (hoarding) that matters Mr. Green

I'd normally say the "Halfords Advanced Professional 200 Piece" set as well, but not overly keen on ratcheting spanners since I don't see them surviving long when giving them love taps with the fine ajustment tool, and then really you want 6 point spanners for that.

Or you could saw one in half.
