Thanks for the messages everybody. I'll try to answer some questions:

t121anf - will keep my title for life, it's an earned, academic title. I'm not sure of titles that need to be paid for, apart from when people buy "Lord" for example. If you're thinking of membership to the RSC, I get MRSC after my name, but that relies on paying my membership fees.

Tracey - how many noughts added? 0 I'll be trying to ask for a £250 raise though haha.

-Matt- I'm slowly murdering the ZZR on my commute, maybe I should put a police sticker on the topbox while it lasts.

Nick 50 - The PhD is worth it, if you enjoy what you're doing. The most important part would be that you have a topic that genuinely interests you. What age is that age if you don't mind me asking? Would you be interested in going into Lecturing, you can pass on your experience to the next lot, perhaps.

hellkat - I'm glad it sounds brainy, you probably wouldn't think it if you met me. I'm not going for Prof. That would be a serious career in Academia, fighting for bursaries, studentships no waaay. I'm going to stay in "Industry" and make some polymer stuff using big kit
