Dude don't buy it. Torrent an ISO of the version you want, keep skipping where it asks for the product key, and then use KMSpico (a crack program) to verify it. Did it today when installing windows on new build.

Hi, download a pre activated copy of 7 from where ever, put it online and then use the windows 10 media creation tool to make yourself an official upgrade dvd or usb stick, use that to do an upgrade and ensure you tell it to remove everything when it asks.

Question.

As a non-Windows user here, (Gentoo Linux and a few other *nix boxes, plus Android mobile/tablets) does it not concern people that a pre-cracked version of Windows or some keygen/mod tool will inject malware and gice control of your system to someone else from the off?

Not say that this *will* happen, just that it *could*.

Not meaning to discourage anyone, but genuinely curious. As I do not move in those circles, perhaps there is a way of knowing things are all good...

I've got the win 7 pro, the only difference is it's missing crap loads of dll stuff and can handle more RAM than the home version.

I did not buy the win 7 pro, I got it for free and I wouldn't buy it if I had to.

I've been using the same hooky copy of W7 x64 Ent. for the past many years.
Gets all updates and I have no problems.

I think I've passed a copy to a few BCFers too.

Ok so I didn't understand 95% of what's just been said so I guess that's why windows. Ease of use, no messing around trying to do this and that. It works, I can get windows office and that will work so I guess the answer is that it's just easier. No upgrade as I'm using Vista, which TBH hasn't been an issue for me. I know everyone says it's crap but I've never seen why. It's worked for the last 6 or so years for me.
Anyway, thanks for all the not quite so legal sounding ways of getting it, but as much as it may come a shock to everyone I just want to find the cheapest legitimate product.

My method is entirely legal and legitimate, at worst, it's an abuse of MS's eagerness to get people onto 10.

MS have a 1 year amnesty in place on Windows 10 upgrades, if you have a 7 or 8 install that's activated you are eligible to switch to 10 for free. MS have all but confirmed that at least for this period, they don't care how you came about the old install. Retail, OEM, Bulk license, Academic and even the cut down releases (Bing, Basic, Starter etc) are all eligible.

If you want to throw money away, then at least have the decency to give it to a good charity
