I think NSR125 wheels could be made to fit spacers etc, but many people don't like the cast alloy wheels or don't find them street cred enough etc.
You could look at system of a clown's KMX thread, as he has without much work managed to get Pulse Adrenalin wheels to fit a KMX, and the wheel sizes will be near enough the same on the MTX. The problem will be the rear wheel, as the MTX is a drum brake and most bikes with SM wheels will have a disc brake.
Or bite the bullet and buy some 17" rims new or used, and spokes and either have them laced up to your original hubs, or have a go at it yourself.
The Honda XR125 wheels might be worth looking at, but they are 19"/17" but the XR does have a drum rear brake that might fit with your MTX's back plate? |
Yeah, I wouldn't want the casts. Wouldn't look right at all.
I have access to a lathe, boring machine, milling machine and some other bits as I'm a machinist. The rear drum is a right issue but I could look into a rear disc conversion. I thought an old school CR might be similar, or something like that. I could always buy hubs and then rims and what not, but I'm pretty sure you have to get them laced professionally, don't you?
