As my 2006 bandit has no engine number and I am a complete beginner ..I am a bit suspect on whether it's a 650 or 1250...The rest of my bike has been modified including front forks n brakes are off a 1250 with now ABS and the swinging arm is from a 1250 as the wheel aligners are different from the original spec...Question...how can I tell whether my engine is 1250 or 650...???? Thanks for reading😀

The VIN is saying 650 but I don't think it's the original engine. ..

Put it in top gear. Do you go above 140 easily. If so it's bigger than the 600/650

How Fast does it go?

If it EASILY clears 130 it's a 1250, it is slows down about 100 and 110/120 is a struggle it is a 650.

The 650 has a bore and stroke of 65.5X48.7
The 1250 is 79X64.
Bore is not easy to measure with the head on but stroke is with a pencil down a plug hole.

Erm.. So just what is it insured as then?

What did the previous owner say it was? And did they explain why there is no engine number?

It's insured as what it is on the VIN which is a 650 but because it's had alot changed on it and it doesn't have a engine number I was wondering whether that was changed too...The previous owner was polish and only had it a couple of months.....its my 1st bike so I bought it coz I liked it...it looks good....I knew I had to jump in head 1st and figure it all out.

I'd not worry. Just give some beans down the motorway and find out.
