I had a bit of a slide on my 2008 Kawasaki ZX6 and the right side fairing is scratched to hell.

I looked around and there are a few online stores that sell full fairing kits in various colors. On closer inspection, they all seem to be replicas made in China. Are these any good? They claim to be able to reproduce any color or custom design.

My main concern is keeping the metallic pearlescent finish and matching with the fuel tank. I have the rare wildfire orange color so I really prefer to get something that looks the same as before!

(Also if anyone knows where I can get original fairings that would be appreciated!)

If you want it perfect pay to get it repaired. If you want it cheap get the fairings.

They may claim to be able to match perfectly but I wouldn't believe that. By all accounts though they are good for the money.

Is it possible to repair a fairing which is cracked and has the paint scratched completely off in places?

Yes, it is possible.

Is it economical? Realistically, probably cheaper to buy a replacement.

I used some on a blackbird, I can't find the thread but it was called 2000 blackbird tartup. Showed the issues I had and the build quality, spelling errors. I got a full refund without sending them back.

One fairing?

I'd be on the hunt for a really good condition 2nd hand fairing.

I had a accident on the Ducati, took me a few months but I managed to get all the fairings 2nd hand in very good condition, as good or better than they was.

Have you looked at the price of new OEM fairings? Rarely will it be cheaper to replace.

If you do go chinglish fairings, it might be advisable to replace all rather than the one panel/fairing, as they may not overlap/play nice together.

I know a guy who's business is pretty much based on buying crashed bikes, fitting chinese fairings and knocking them out cheap(ish).

they will fit eventually but expect to have to drill out, modify or move mounting points, they will never look as good as original and generally are quite brittle too.

he's never had a set that didn't fit eventually but equally he's never had a set that fitted perfectly either out of the box or after a lot of fiddling about.

I think its hit n' miss really. The few aftermarket fairings i've bought from China have been okay in terms of finish and material, but the sizing has always been not quite right. All of them required a bit of filing and a few of them needed a drill and cable ties to get them on Laughing. For the price it was still worth it I think (especially compared to buying new OEM, if you can even find any).

If its just scratches that you can live with for a while i'd have a regular check on ebay for used OEM fairings popping up, although it might be a bit of wait with it being orange. I had quite long delays trying to find a bit of replacement fairing for my 05 ZX as its plasma blue and the colour seems to also be less common.
