Ahh I just threw it down the road, and followed it

2 crashes on one commute to work,
both low sides, and both in snow,

I cant work out what number we are on now, but its one more

Came round the corner to find a Transit stationary in the road and front brake completely failed. Sad

The transit bumper was creased and the back door dented but at least the driver was okay if shocked.

The GPZ is getting a complete new front end, I've broken my arm which stings a little and I am stuck riding the Superdream until further notice.

I'd forgotten the traditional BCF diagram.
The road bends to the left just before work,with cars parked all down the left side of the road.

As it was the brakes worked enough to stand the GPZ up and steer into the corner of the van

If I'd have been going slower the rear brake would have been enough.

Its a fair question because I kind of did the same when I looked at it. To the left of the van were parked cars that arent showing.

It is deceptive, at the time this was taken my bike was still lying in the road and its not in the picture.

I wasn't there so I'm not really in a place to judge but if you couldn't avoid that then I'd be reconsidering my ability to ride a motorcycle.

Brakes don't tend to fail unless subjected to a severe lack of maintenance.

There's that bend, then it straightens up before the impact site.

Was either racebiking it, or saw the van facing away and his brain tried to kill him by inferring that it was moving.

Needs an honest self appraisal of what went wrong in order to avoid doing it again.

I did let myself get a little bit distracted when the brake lever hit the bar and nothing happened.

To be honest as bad as the timing was I'm fortunate it happened here and not at dual carriageway speeds I'd been doing a minute previously.

I'm still puzzled by how you got yourself into a situation where you had to brake there.

You were on the RHS of the road, at "leaning over" speed, but couldn't see that the road was(n't) clear? Industrial estate, parked cars, junctions, seem like a prime location to be cautious.

Not Tut Tut-ing, just confused as to why braking was even an issue.

How did you get that far through your journey without testing the front brake?

How fast were you going? you should be able to stop in time for anything.

It had worked two junctions earlier on the off ramp

1 MPH stalled the bike and dropped it, fell on the floor and a small bit of iron work. Hurt ribs and my ego. No apparent damage to bike as it passed an MOT half an hour later. Embarassed
