Not on a TDM but I did have to sort a VFR with a tacho dropping out twice.
First was a track broken on the plastic film pcb inside which I bridged with fine wire and delicate soldering

Months later it dropped out again and after I checked my bridge repair
on the pcb hadn't failed
I traced/tested cables and found the connector on the ignition unit plug was faulty.
perhaps you have a simlar problem?

I had a TDM with this problem many years ago. In my case it was a bad soldered joint on one of the resistors in the tacho. Re-soldered it and worked perfectly after that.
