Some thick hair used as comparison.

Also the number of vehicles that cross the road every day seems to be going up by 5000 every 12 hours.

That is properly bad news for the East Coast Massive, and it'll snarl up Falkirk as well.

I wouldn't be entirely astonished if a thorough inspection reveals so many issues that it never re-opens.

What's taking the time is they've got a guy going up there every day for a week to soak it in plusgas before they try to undo the bolts. Meanwhile the rest of the crew are looking for their 13mm socket.

This wouldn't have happened if they went independent.

When's the next vote?

Sure, we'd have sold it for scrap by now in order to fund that "haggis in every pot" promise.

Two other road bridges (Clackmannan and Kincardine) and a (THE) rail bridge.

The road bridges are geographically located in an akward place though. Much further up the river. If you want to head North from Edinburgh, you'd have to do two sides of a triangle to use them. It was always a diversion when the Forth road bridge was closed due to high winds but it takes you a long way out of your way.

The roads also don't have the capacity to carry the volume of traffic. A new crossing is under construction because there was too much traffic for the current bridges anyway.

Going from Edinburgh City Bypass to Perth, by the Forth Bridge is 37 miles of Motorway.

By the Clackmannan Bridge is 60 miles of mixed motorway and A-road.
