Any reason you can't show us some of the videos you've previously made using the computer that's now got a dead PSU? Obviously it will only show what you can do with your current equipment but it's better than nothing.

You say that you think you're interesting but what makes you think that other people find you interesting?

Mounts, cases, support, remote control capabilities, smartphone access, technical specs which are purely superior, a stereo microphone built somewhere into the chin so you get equilateral sound, viewing angles and light sensitivity are all well and good but you don't actually need them. Make some videos using budget kit before going and spending £3k on high spec equipment.

"I am little gem amongst 18 year olds and wisened beyond my years"

Laughing Laughing Laughing

"not only showing these landmarks but also giving a little bit of trivia about them etc, as well as eventually visiting them on camera with commentary. "

Laughing Laughing Laughing

"I am looking for ideas"

Show us some of the videos you've already made. At the moment you're just some kid wanting £3k who has deluded themselves into thinking the internet will be interested in you chatting shit when commuting.

well done for coming back on here.
i have a couple of questions.
1st,what do you think the end game for this vlog?money, fame or a tool to get you in the door with some media company?
2nd?if you think you have a flair for this stuff why havent you posted vlogs with the cheap gear that you claim to already have?claiming your pc is dead isnt a valid reason.
3rd isnt the whole vlog thig something you choose to do and then people can find it and watch or not when theres actually some content?

I have to say your kickstarter page uses the most cryptic and annoying form of English language.

Hence 0 supporters. Just saying...

You're completely delusional for thinking anyone will support your little hobby. And yes it's just a hobby. Nothing wrong with that, but £2000 for what, exactly? How will anyone benefit apart from you???

Also. I'm sorry but you really, really do NOT need a super duper flashy GoPro 4000000 and all the add-ons to make your little videos. No true enthusiast would ever say they need the best tools to make whatever arty thing they're going for. However did the pioneering Vloggers of yesteryear survive in the halcyon days of GoPro v1 ?

The fact you want the best kit just screams of naivety to me. Many people do it. They spend a ton on the high end gear then think it'll make them better at what they do.

And stop harping on about your video editing skills. Mashing a few clips together isn't hard. Adding a few titles and whatnot isn't hard either.

Finally, you're at QM university, commuting from Heathrow each day which means you're presumably living with the family. So you have a huge amount of student loan money you should have applied for, which you quite luckily don't need to spend on rent. I was at QM for my first year. I knew a guy who lived in Slough and commuted each day. We started talking about loans and he, being young and a bit poncy (sorry but he was) said, "Oh I had no idea, I just applied and got it, and go clothes shopping each week with the money." Lucky little shite got the full whack of student loans but didn't need to spend a penny of it on rent. Now I'd just like to question what's going on with your own student loan arrangement? Did you apply for it? Have you blown it on something else? Every student can get something. Did your parents make you hand it all over as rent? I just don't understand. Furthermore, if your family is poor, I know QM gives a £1500 bursary to all students from low income situations. I got one. I didn't need it - I'd learned to budget quite fine with the government maintenance loan/grant so anything on top was a bonus. I used that money to travel India for the entire of last summer. If you get it, you could use the money to buy your GoPro. Now fuck off. Very Happy

Are you kidding me?

One of your main reasons for doing a vlog is so that we can see the ever important things you have to say. You can do that with a £5 webcam. You don't need excessively edited videos with footage of abysmal London traffic... if you can't make it interesting sitting in front of a webcam, you can't make it interesting by sitting on a pitiful 125.

I lived in London. Commuted on the bike a few times. There are no interesting sounds to hear. We'll get to hear horns going off, and the disappointing sound of a 125.

And studying at Queen Mary's? Jesus christ. That part of London looks sinfully ugly and the traffic is a nightmare. I lived in the Tower Hamlets for a while, I have no desire to see it again.

Damn your poor psychic abilities. I just ordered myself a GoPro.

Maybe I should start a KickStarter for a vlog too... Thinking

Absolutely valid comment, I imagine that is the view many of the commenters hold in their ruthless bollocking Laughing
That being said, I am currently at uni studying, I get out the house at 7, have a 90minute commute to get to 9AM lectures and most days only leave uni at 5PM. Weekend are dedicated to reports and assignments leaving me at best 1 day free a week, with an incredibly random schedule. I am not going to pretend I am a tortured soul but it is incredibly difficult to find a position flexible enough to be compatible with my studies.

Im out the house before 6 most days, do a 2 hour commute into london from SE kent. Work 8 hours and then come home. Sitting on your arse all day in lectures is not hard work!
So you dont get umpteen weeks of summer and xmas holidays off do you? You could easily get a seasonal contract.
Or do you need that time to recover from your busy schedule! Rolling Eyes

The response to this is twofold. Firstly, I would self-confidently go on a limb and say I am little gem amongst 18 year olds and wisened beyond my years, and understadibly that is not close to being a valid response. Secondly, my target audience is exactly 16-21 year olds who are in a very similar position to mine, hence, my 'inexperienced' view would be what the viewers would be coming to watch and to those who are more mature it would be a source of amusement as these bollockings have been.

So you wanna be a baron von grumble for teeny boppers? Lemme digress for a sec - are you actually a bcf-er under a sock? You seem to be weathering these bollockings extremely well. Not meef, not fladdem. I dunno - something's not ringing true in all this (e.g. your total reticence to show yourself on a test run vlog lest someone suss out who you actually are - the "my PC's knackered" is a load of pants, be honest).

Anyway, anyway - you do actually seem fairly articulate, but unfortunately I tend to fucking loathe most of these vloggers - even the best, your svengalis, your grumbles, your fucking jordanians, your missenden flyers, etc. - they all piss me off no end, and I don't want to see or hear any more of them, still less their younger, even more misinformed counterparts. So for this and myriad other reasons I too am OOT.

Can I also have £2k so I can go back to South America and spend every night sniffing coke off a hooker’s bum crack? That's just as worthy a cause.

I was thinking the same thing, or maybe hoping, that such a self-righteous, self-obsessed little turd doesn't actually exist.

It's the 2k figure that doesn't make any sense, £200 maybe and even less to get started. Maybe the guy/sock puppet has a plan to avoid putting all the hard work in, and wants the money to promote the channel without having to take a GSXR off roading Smile

Absolutely, there is cheaper gear out there, however their specs don't match up with a GoPro Hero3+ / Hero 4. There are many problems with cheaper gear, one of them being the peripherals. Mounts, cases, support, remote control capabilities, smartphone access etc. can only be exploited on a GoPro. Furthermore, the GoPro has technical specs which are purely superior. Even though a GoPro and a random 30GBP camera may both record at 1080p the record rate will be way worse, not even accounting for viewing angles and light sensitivity etc...

You seem to have got yourself hung up on having a GoPro even though it doesn't support a 3.5mm mic input direct from the box (they charge £19.99 and you have to drull the case for that).

This alone leads me to believe you've not thought through this entire venture properly. I mean a vlogger lives and dies by his equipment, and you've chosen the wrong stuff if you want to make vlogs (rather than just record a commute).
