Hey guys. Our long running project is taking far too long now, and we figure the solution is to get a mobile mechanic (or someone who knows what they're doing and is willing) to come and have a look at it. To sum up the bike is complete but fails to start on the button. The OH is convinced that a missing sidestand switch is causing the problem but the wiring loom says different. Have tried a different loom, different CDI. Running out of ideas.

Can anyone recommend a mechanic in the Castleford area? There are plenty of shops around but want to avoid them if possible. If not, does anyone care to look at a suspected electrical fault on a Kawasaki ZL 400?

I will be interested in any replies. Whilst I do most of my own spannering it's nice to know someone nearby to call on if things get tricky.

You could try this guy.
I have met him a few times but I can't vouch for his work. He has, however, been at it for a long time and I've not heard anything bad about him so he may be worth a punt.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

To be fair it spent a year in the living room as main feature (my suggestion!) Laughing

Thanks Raffles for the reply. I shall see if he can help.

Aye Marks a good bloke, just hoped to avoid the hassle of getting transport for the fat bastard.

Funny comment about sitting on bike in a van. Last year I picked the fellas CG up in my old van cos it was so icy after he'd finished work. No straps or owt so just loaded it and hoped for the best. Sure enough it went over on a roundabout. Copper pulls up seconds after, whole scene dodgy as fuck, I'm there in all black, gloves on (it was COLD). After some chat he goes "just sit on it, no one'll bother"... Surprised

Thanks for replies anyway guys. I'll get sorted somehow.
