Any ideas where I can download/ponse/borrow/beg/steal a copy from?

Not interested in word, power point etc. Just need Excel so I can download and print our MOT test logs weekly. (The VOSA website will only provide a download in excel format Rolling Eyes )

I've signed up for Excel online, but it keeps saying the website is down.

Cheers,

Ben

I think google documents can also handle simple excel spreadsheets.

Apart from Openoffice there's also Libreoffice (based on Openoffice) and Gnumeric. The latter is generally much faster at loading large spreadsheets in my experience.

This ^^. Libre/Openoffice will consume humungous resource and require an update every other minute to be nag free.

Not saying on an office PC it's no good, but for this specific case, Google Docs is the winner.

Torrent. The free alternatives aren't really any good.

LibreOffice doesn't nag at all and although I don't use Openoffice (does anyone now?) I'm 99.9% sure, since it's Apache developed now, it wont either.

There's no point in using the Microsoft versions of excel anymore, unless you're in a corporate where you get no choice.

VBA? If you're doing anything worthwhile, you need it.

For what most people actually need to do open-source spreadsheets are perfectly adequate.

For viewing and printing an Excel spreadsheet, Excel Viewer is ideal.

Any scripting language will do. Both Libre Office and Open Office support multiple scripting languages:

[Libre|Open]Office Basic
JavaScript
BeanShell
Python

Thank you for all the help chaps. Went with Google Docs in the end. Any form of downloading seems to be instantly deleted by our IT help desk. Fucker!
