Getting a good deal

So! I will have ££££ to buy a bike with but is cash the best bargaining tool?

I ask this as we were in the Harley dealers (this is what the wife wants). on Saturday and the salesman started to mention these PCp finance deals, although he was very accommodating I got the impression he would prefer to sell me a bike on finance. I will have cash in January and I want to use that to purchase a bike. Should I be able to haggle with cash or is the price they advertise, the price they want?

I've made a deal with Er indoors that she must keep all that chrome polished if we get a Harley. I am still pushing for a tiger though and told her if we get a Harley we would also need a tiger at some point also as the Harley wouldn't be so good for touring Europe on. She didn't say no Very Happy

many of them get a kickback for the finance deal going through

one option is to take finance IF there is no penalty for phoning up and paying it all off a couple of months later (presuming 0% interest for a few months)

When we bought the wife's car the dealer wouldn't stop banning on about how the money we had for buying the car would be best left in the bank gaining interest while we took finance on the car.

I asked him if he'd seen interest rates lately and pointed out the interest we would be charged on the finance deal was double what we'd get from the money in the bank.

We bought the car in cash, however it somehow became unavailable and I ended up demanding the deposit back + interest (they'd had the deposit 2 months) but that's another story.

the thing with a finance deal is its only a good deal if it works for you.
you know variables that the internet wont tell you.
cant imagine the words harley and value in the same bubble.
but it takes all sorts i suppose.

Don't get a Harley if you're the one riding the bike and she's the one that wants it.

Get the Tiger.

Tell her to get her own Harley.

buy some better ear plugs.
not only will they protect you from the horrendous noise of hd's finest 1930's tech,
but you will get the added bonus of not having to listen to your luggage(partner) and get the triumph

The Harley dealer did mention this when we called in a few weeks ago but I didn't take much notice as I thought it was a bit of sales crap.I told him I was also interested in a bonnie and he mentioned the Euro 4 and his words were Triumph are screwed.

Getting back to the bikes, I'll have to do the right thing and take the Harley out but if I don't like it I will have to get a tiger Wink
