From idle to 1/4 throttle when cold the bike bogs and dies, if you put the choke on it is doesn't bog, the carb has been stripped and cleaned (delorto phbh28 carb) the emulsion tube is .60 and the pilot jet is .65.

When warm it bogs but doesn't die so am I right in saying I should put a richer pilot jet in there to stop the bogging. When it powers through the bog it seems to have half decent mid and high so im pretty sure it is the pilot jet. Also the fuel/mixture screw doesn't really do much when you adjust it.

Does anybody know what pilot jet I should go for so I can use it as a base test and work from it?

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Bike mods if needed -

No air box intake hose
Stock filter and box
Boyesen power reeds
Stock de-restricted exhaust
Cdi de-restricted
Power valve fitted - clean blade and working
New BR10ES plug

It's a Aprilia mx 125, bought the bike like this so just trying to get it run right, I've cleaned and blew the carb out with compressed air and moved the clip on the needle to the bottom notch so it runs richer.

It runs better and ticks over and the mixture screw seem to be doing something now but It still bogs when pulling on the throttle quickly.

When you do it slowly it dosen't bog as much and mid and high revs are good.

Will put a .70 pilot jet in there and try it again, would I have to up the emulsion tube as well when I up the pilot jet?

Thanks for the help.

If u snap it open quickly in low rpms it will bog as you are posibly flooding it. But it still sounds like a blocked pilot jet or your jet is too small . Has it been up jetted after the derestriction and send a picture of your spark plug after a good fast run but wip it out quickly whilst it's hot

The previous owner messed about with the main and choke jets but from what I have read its still got the original pilot and emulsion tube in it.

Can't ride it at the moment as its uninsured, had a quick go when buying it and mid and high revs are sweet so its only low revs/tick over.

Do you know what size I should upjet the pilot or should I buy a few and just test them?

Should I change the emulsion tube when re jetting the pilot?

Thanks.

Ok is that when it's cold it bogs and check if it is fouled up as this can cause a stutter. If it has a race can it should be jetted corectly I would go up in sizes. But like I said you need to check the spark plug colour as this will tell you what is going on with it. And will help us know how to advise you. How clean is the air filter as well. Also sounds like the right alternator doesn't work

Whether its hot or cold it bogs from idle to low revs, but if you pull the choke it when hot it runs and revs up perfect and its got the stock exhaust but the washer has been removed to de-restrict it.

Im pretty sure its not fouling just bogs and dies if you hold on the throttle. The filter isn't that dirty but I will clean and re-oil it just to rule that out.

What do you mean by the right alternator?

Thanks.

Haha lol I was only joking about the alternator, hmm it sounds like it's starving of fuel I'm sure of it. If your opening the chock it means there us still a blockage or the pilot jet is too small as well as the main jet as ur putting more fuel in to let it rev properly.
