I've been thinking about the commercial benefits from doing anything youtubey, it seems to fall into two camps.

1. You have a popular youtube channel already. You then use it to promote your business, without removing whatever made it popular in the first place. I can't think of any examples of this happening, I rarely subscribe to any channels.

2. You put out videos showing people how to do things. Some of those people may then visit your site to buy the tool/part to do the thing. Most will not. This happens a lot with videos on how to service your bike, fix your washing machine, that sort of thing.

To sell things online, you need to either be the only supplier, or be the cheapest supplier on a popular marketplace (ebay, amazon). I will watch the wemoto video on how to change a set of points on a fuel pump, but I'll probably buy them from Busters because they're slightly cheaper and sell through ebay.
