i wondered what you guys thought of these? i bought a pair and they dont seem to be the usual shitty chinese quality, but they were still quite cheap. i would only use the brake master cylinder, i have the clutch lever too but i thought it looks a bit chunky/ tacky so i would use the brake lever with a different clutch. what are your thoughts on them?

Debatable subject with lots of opinions but I certainly won't be bolting Chinese tat to my bikes, especially a Front M/C that you rely on to Stop.

Most OEM Master Cylinders are shit. A 99p chinese job isn't going to be great, functionally..

i thought as much, i know the chinese have a gained themselves a bad reputation as far as their motorcycles are concerned but this m/c does seem to be of fairly good quality, its a bit heavier than my bikes original one but still not bad. thats why i thought id pick the brains of you guys, however i suspect you might all say the same thing. im considering buying a genuine honda one from ebay which i can buy for about 25 quid and use that instead, but that seems like a waste of money when I've already bought these

a couple questions i have are;

-what differences should i expect to notice between using a honda lever and these chinese ones long term?

-my bike is an older honda enduro/supermoto type of bike and im Thinking that maybe this sort of lever is designed more for the style of a sports bike and it might look a bit naff on mine...?

any further opinions would be appreciated, cheers, sean

As someone who's visited China many times over the past 11 years, mainly for quality related audits and meetings, I can confirm that there some very professional and well organised companies making top quality products, but there are also some very unprofessional companies producing cheap and nasty goods.

The quality of the raw materials can be a major issue along with heat treatment and surface finishes.

There are companies producing top quality components for the major automobile and motorcycle manufacturers, so chances are the lever on your Honda nowadays may have been manufactured in China anyway.

As for the cheap parts on eBay, well you get what you pay for as skilled Chinese engineers aren't cheap nowadays; there wages can be higher than workers in Eastern Europe.

I've used Chinese adjustable levers on a few of my bikes with no issues but the complete master cylinder set up?

It could be fine, it might not be. As said, do you really want to find out it doesn't work when you really need it?

I've fitted cheap chinese levers before (£20 I think those pairs were Laughing) without any problems and know quite a few other people who are happy with their ones, but i'm sure theres bound to be some horror stories about them.

Not sure about the cylinder.

I've found it's more OEM m/c's are poorly matched to the calipers.

On my GN it was well oversized with a 14mm bore OEM m/c, the brakes did naff all. Swapped it out for a 12mm m/c from an R125 and now it's a 1-finger-stop with great feel, despite being the same caliper/pads/lines.

well correct me if im wrong but isnt it a quicker process to ask the opinions of others that may have used this product before, rather than fitting them, bleeding the system and then finding out myself the answer which a bunch of forum guys could of told me in the first place?

Plus they are still winging their way over from china and im thinking of buying better ones in the meantime so they are not here to test out

had 1 of these cheap Chinese brake levers snap during an mot when brakes were being tested.

had only been on a week and bike was never dropped.

lesson learned as it could have been deadly on the road , never gamble on cheap brake parts.

You could be right...
But the fact you pressed the "Buy it now" button means you are wrong....

The idea of asking for other opinions is before you purchase anything. Rolling Eyes Laughing

If anyone had come back and said they had used them and they were crap what would you do?
Sending back is not really a option is it.....

Just admit that you'd have been better off asking first!!

Put em back on eBay and let someone else take the risk.

I bought a set of fancy adjustable levers from HK for my ER6F (£16.00 !) and I was impressed. They fitted exactly with more precision than the originals, look good and work well. Would I buy again if needed ?, yes most certainly !.

I have Chinese levers. The best £16 pounds ever spend. Very comfty.

Probably I'll not mount Chinese master cylinder though. Not because is Chinese, just do not like how it looks too much bling.

Because everything the Chinese make is utter shit like your fridge pc washing machine and about 70% of the things in your house. I know mines burnt down 14 times this week and my Chinese made ECig has blown off all my fingers in the 18 months I've been using it. Come on people things have come a long way

im a fan of the cheapo chinky levers.
i got a new bike this year and hated the oem clutch lever(brake lever had adjustment and was fine)
bmw wanted £150+ for each lever.
so i took a punt on some £15 the pair of chinas finest.
people rolled out stories of "my mate crashed because of cheap levers"
so i took time and measured the cheap stuff compared to oem.nothing in it appart from the finish was slightly better looking on the cheapo stuff.
fitted 8000 miles ago and im happy and havent died yet

There is a thread on here about that, OP was a bit of a gimp though IIRC.
