2 years ago I was at a Hawkwind gig ( Embarassed yet Cool ) and Dave Brock dedicated the song Motorhead to Lemmy who he said was very very poorly.
They way he announced it I thought it was imminent.

I didn't take to his bravado persona but the bloke sure led a full and interesting life.

Damn. Met him a few times over the years, last time was in a trike workshop I was visiting with a friend. He was a sarcastic bastard but came across as a decent and genuine bloke. Didn't have his head up his own arse, just a total disregard for polite conversation. Said what he thought.

According to that report CaNsA posted, neither did he until three days ago.

Gave me a wonderful and totally unusable interview a few years ago - one of the greats.

Every day has been a bonus since the 70s.

He never did really hard drugs, but he put away enough booze to kill most people half his age.

Combined with his work load, he did well to get through the 80s.

"They" - friends, family and what nowadays seem to be called 'superfans' - have known there's been something quite seriously wrong for a little while now. At least a year.

Saw him live a few years back. Can't believe he lasted this long. Great show person though, seemed to always give it 100% regardless of how fucked he was Laughing

RIP, was only a matter of time but still sad nonetheless.

I woke up with the wife saying "oh no!" I asked what and she told me. That was me awake properly now. The world has lost one of the greatest and most influential rock stars ever. Today is a sad day for rock music.

Now i'm even more gutted i've never seen him live, i was supposed to a few years ago at the Nottingham arena but one of the band members kids was ill so they cancelled it and we were stuck with Joan jet doing the set Laughing

I suppose i'm lucky i've managed to see a few brilliant bands from back in what some of you call 'the good old days' Laughing , deep purple, hawkwind, roger waters etc but being in my 20's i suppose i was always going to struggle to see them all before they started being all dead. Crying or Very sad

God, even I could tell he was ill and I can't stand Motorhead (so never followed them closely, but plenty of my friends do/have) Laughing

In the last year, I can't count the number of times there's been articles showing up in my newsfeeds saying "Lemmy looks like shite at the latest concert" (to which I thought "And the news in that headline is ... what?")

So yeah, the cancer diagnosis is no surprise.
The speed he snuffed it afterwards ... a little dodgy if you ask me.
"At least he didn't suffer".
Got to wonder what will come out in the news at a later date.

RIP Hairy-chopsed old dude.

Saw him at the then "reading rock festival" there were a lot of beer cans being thrown towards the stage, all part full, Lemmy stopped playing and warned that if one hit him he'd come down and sort it out, all to tremendous cheers, he then carried on playing, great guy RIP, he was the Ace of Spades

He did like an old song. I like this cover he did.

I remember waiting for his radio show when I was a teenager and thinking it would be all heavy metal, all he played was old rock and roll records.

Got to admit, the older I get, the more I have to admit I'd probably give it consideration myself, if it came down to that.

Palliative care in this day and age is still frighteningly medieval.

I'd like to take this out of context, if I may.

Sad to hear of Lemmy's demise, plenty of Motorhead's tracks on my playlist.
