Holy crap, I've just had the mother of all shocks off my laptop!!!
Weather's a trifle inclement in South Carolina at the moment, laptop hooked up to the charger and my right hand supporting said PC.
Big flash of lighting didn't quite trip the fuse box (???) but dipped the lights and gave my hand a good shock - brother-in-law, in the neighbouring room said he saw the spark my finger must have given as it acted as a suitable ground!!! Shocked

Bizarrely enough my PC appears to still be in good working order!

I wish! If I'd been knocking one out my hands would have been well away from the laptop Laughing

It was! The shock was through only my ring finger which was about 1/2" off the laptop near the battery compartment.
Nothing that was actually touching the laptop got a shock (Yup, it's 11am and I'm lying on the bed playing keyboard warrior, cos weather !!!)

For Ste...Fully clothed, just like the rest of the family, nobody touching either their genitalia or anybody else's Laughing

My old Dell C640 did this with the edge of the keyboard.

Some of the plastic insulation had worn away and it'd shock me whenever I went near the Q cluster on my keyboard. I used a plug in USB one for a while before moving to an new one as it was already pretty old by that time.

£58 just for the doofur and not the McGizzmo that goes with it. Not exactly what one could consider as a 'cheap thrill' is it? Rolling Eyes

And what in the Unholyist of fcuks name is this ?

A whole/hole new avenue on deviationisms

I thought murican leccy ran at a super safe 110v so you get more harmless current and less horrid voltage if you lick it?

It ain't the volts that kill you, it's the amperes.

I once wired a live wire to the earth point on a vacuum pump by accident. Genuinely shocking mistake to make.

It hurt like a fucker. Took me several good shocks before I sussed what was up, I thought it was static or something.
