I have a DNA50. Before christmas i had to replace the water pump as it was leaking, this cost me £20 for the pump but £150ish to have it fitted as it required an engine strip. my bike is now leaking again. what am i to do? could i blame the garage for this? or not? I don't thrash the bike, its looked after and i don't know what i could be doing wrong. I can't afford another £150+ so i think i might have to sell up Crying or Very sad If anybody has suggestions for alternative options let me know. its going to the garage tonight so i can see what they have to say. Sorry for my rant but i'm so annoyed with it, and my parents will give me the "we toldyou never to get a bike" talk. all ideas welcome!

I'd take it back where you had the work done and quiz them about it. Especially if it has the same fault and the work was done recently. Maybe they have missed something or not done the work properly.

You'd be best selling up and buying a car. See if any of your mates want an extra bike for when their main bike is off the road. Sell it to them for a few quid and move on.

That depends. Is this the 'Convince your mate to buy a car so you can buy his DNA50 really really cheap' forum?

I would definitely get the garage to sort it, try not be fobbed off if they blame it on something else. Get someone that knows what they're doing to have a look if they do make trouble.

Most things on bikes are easy enough to replace; so worth doing yourself (until you get to swapping gears around etc ).

You would of been better buying tools for £100 and learning to do that job yourself. Fitting a waterpump is a piece of piss but if you have to take alot of parts off it to reach the pump it will take long time thats all. If your saying he had to take out the engine he may be having you on.

Its a small shop. They seem genuine enough though. Couple of weeks after the water pump went i got them to fit some new rollers, it worked fine until 2 days later it broke down whilst i was riding. Turns out the crank shaft fell off because a nut came loose. I rang the garage and they picked it up in the van, fixed and brought it back for free. I did ask around as well before i had the work done and most people said it just depends where the water pump is, and unluckily it did require an engine strip to get to. thanks guys anyway.

Btw Rick... i'll swap for your GPZ500 if you want Wink

Get a Haynes manual for it, we'll fix it in future. I've not found a job on my bike that we haven't been able to do yet. It's all simple stuff, they just make it sound complicated.
