So N Korea have detonated what is believed to be a hydrogen bomb BBC

what do you reckon will happen?

China seem pretty annoyed over it according to the news, I thought they were N.Korea's only real ally?

It makes no difference. You can have all the bombs in the world.

If you don't have a delivery system then it's just a huge paperweight.

The PRC isn't sure what to do about N Korea and therefore keeps the status quo and keeps them as a buffer zone and as a place to exploit now and again.

Actually, nothing. Not even the Septics are daft enough to get involved in a(nother) land war in Asia.

None of their neighbours is up for taking them on solo. And since they're all wily orientals, they (correctly) won't trust each other to form a Freedom Justice Alliance and go in mob handed.

We'll just leave them to get on with it, I reckon.

FTFY

Subtle difference, but an important one. The scientific community is more skeptical and reckons it either wasn't really an H bomb or it didn't properly work - apparently the bang was pretty puny.

I find tactical nuclear weapons are a lot scarier than strategic ones, when they're in the sweaty trembling hands of a genuine moonbat regime that might actually use them.

Don't they have term limits? I haven't been keeping track, but Roosevelt must be knocking on a bit by now.

I remain more concerned about the now and the future than the past.

You should check out the sanity of the current rabble knocking on the Whitehouse door. The current choice would be one racist, misogynistic, right wing nutcase as their next President or another racist, misogynistic, right wing nutcase or, God forbid, a woman Rolling Eyes

Having been to the Hiroshima nuclear museum and seen what a relatively small nuke will do, I can say that a nuke in the hands of a nutter is not something I want to contemplate. Hopefully China will slap him down.

And those who say it's no use without a deployment system, true, but North Korea has ships. Put a nuke on one of those, sail it to America/UK or wherever and detonate. Job done.

It's easy when you rule a country Thumbs Up

So you reckon other nations would be daft enough to let North Korea 'sail' their 'brown water navy' into their waters with nothing more than a 'welcome to britusistan' invitation?

Of course not, but legally they cannot be stopped and searched until they enter a countries territorial waters. So how do you stop a ship doing 15 knots suddenly turning out of the shipping lane in the channel and heading for Portsmouth? It would be in 'nuke' range before you could do anything.

No it's not likely I agree, but a lot easier for Mr. Jong to set up than a terrorist.

You don't remember operation grapple do you?

The UK had a nuclear bomb test. They had multiple bombs.

They had a conventional A bomb, a hydrogen bomb and they had a boosted A-bomb.

The A-bomb worked as hoped. The hydrogen bomb didn't work as hoped as the boosting effect did not happen.

So the UK used a fake H-bomb. This was a simply a massive A-bomb which the British government for the next 40 years claimed was a H-bomb they faked some of the data which got the yanks to share some of their H-bomb data and reveal the design which we copied.

North Korea has thousands of artillery pieces on its border. Lots within range of Seoul. Any attack against NK would result in those firing into the city with x civvi deaths.

So yeah, nowt millitary will happen.

This doesn't seem to stop a certain 60 year old nation in the Middle East. They just board them anyway.

Hell 13 years ago the US gave intel to Spanish marines, which boarded a cargo ship bound for Yemen from N Korea and searched it finding Scud rockets on board. This was also in international waters in the Indian Ocean even.

The attitude was international law. We've got guns f*** international law!

Or you claim the ship was flag less which makes it legal to intercept and board it. Kind of how the CIA calls everybody who is killed by a drone strike a terrorist.

No, because I'm not in my 60s. But yes, the suggestion I've heard is that Kim's "H bomb" is in reality a bigger A bomb.

We'd lose Portsmouth (we'll cope) and within hours South Korea would be an island. Even Kim knows that.

Itchy, you would have to know there was a bomb on it first.

My point is just that if he wanted to nuke somewhere, he has the capability of doing it without fancy missile systems.

I'm sure he isn't that mad. He has a wonderful life with eveyone grovelling at his feet. He'll just hold out for a few concessions from the Yanks, South Korea and go back to culling his family.

Interesting, but I can't find a specific reference to this Operation Grapple fake bomb.

Putting a bomb on a ship wouldn't work. Article 51 would permit interception of the ship trumping any other laws. Though such a vessel would sail into Busan long before it would sail into Portsmouth.

Anywhere into South Korea would suit him fine

How big is an A bomb ?
A diplomatic pouch can be a crate , is there a N Korea consulate in London ?, maybe they could take one to the UN building in NY ?
As for being obliterated in revenge I honestly dont think the guy gives a fuck
