It's always puzzeled my why yamaha didn't do this sooner with the old crossplane crank engine. I know they have the big fazer but some people would of loved the crossplane engine in something with less of a head down arse up position. Shame this one is ugly but the idea is great

Never understood what makes one bike ugly and another not. The MT 10 looks suitably aggressive to me.

It's all just a personal thing. I think a lot of modern bikes are ugly, because in my younger days they looked quite different. Back then, the format was fuel tank, side panels, tail piece, sometimes a fairing, and it seemed like (generally speaking of course) there was some effort to make them 'flow' into each other. More modern fare seems to be lots of small panels tacked on all over the place, and there seems to be a competition to design the weirdest shaped headlamp. But it's just what you're used to I suppose. Colours also make a big difference in my view. The dealer salesman I was talking to yesterday showed me pics of this in KR colours, and also a black/red paint scheme which I think looked a lot better.

I do, however, like the look of the BMW S 1000R, which I guess will be the MT10's main competition, so from what I read, it will need to be a good bike. 165bhp I'm told.

I can't wait for the MT10 Tracer...

I own an MT09 Tracer so if they do fetch the 10 Tracer out I may get into trouble from my better for wanting to change bikes so quickly. I might just get away with it if they stick with their MT09 format and the 10 Tracer comes out next year..

A Hornet 900 is kind of Beautiful and minimalist compared to this Alien looking angular plastic crap straight out of the Z800 mould.

I'd take the Hornet every time, and throw away the std suspension, brakes and handlebars. Then you just need to wake up/re-work the 918cc motor back to the 120ish bhp that the blade has and you'd have a much better bike, that would be more fun, and look far cooler too.

Hell you could put a CBR1100XX motor in if you really wanted it to be quick.

I'm desperate for a test ride on one of these. I think the Fluo colour looks amazing, my only worry is that they'll skimp on the suspension like they did with the 09.

quite like the aggressive look of it at least they haven't put one of those awful modern headlights that look like they're drooping all the way to the front mud guard hope they don't do a tracer version they fucked up the mt09 and made it look like some bland tourer

I like it. It will never be a timeless classic in the looks department, but it's delightfully ugly IMO.

I might buy one, although it's very annoying that they haven't disclosed the three key facts (power, weight and price). If the performance and dynamics are very close to the R1, and it's priced at or around £10k, then the looks don't even matter.

That is disappointing. Far too busy.

I was getting fond of the MT range, the styling was more along the lines of simple yet elegant, although they were getting more ugly as the numbers went higher.

Now it's back to the MT03 for something pretty but underpowered, or a faux-classic Ducati for something genuinely pretty with a decent engine.

I wonder if a Chinese manfuacturer will hire a decent designer and bring out a 600cc winner in the naked pretty category.
