I was never a big fan of Bowie, Loved a few of his songs and appreciate his talent.

That said. I loved Ziggy and now he's been really killed off. For that I am sad.

Are we sure he's dead and not just working in a 1970s police station?

Oh genuinely sad Sad
(Much more so than about Lemmy)

Bowie's music really was part of the soundtrack of my life.

In fact, The Laughing Gnome was the first "pop" song that brought me to musical consciousness, which took me out of childhood and into prepubescent appreciation of modern music.

From the perspective of my youth (a very straight-laced middle class life), somehow I disapproved of his very unique style, but also yearned to have the courage to be that different.

He's definitely been very influential amongst those who drive my constant refusal to conform Cool

RIP one of a kind dude Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

Bowie was a big influence on a lot of lives over 50 years
he was a legend and an inspiration to a lot of people over those years and will be for years to come

I shed a tear earlier, tried to play Heroes but had to put the guitar down, way to emotional Thumbs Up

Each to their own mate, I just don't see an emotional attachment to someone I never met and was likely to never meet.

I like his music though.

Peppers is very sad.
Loved his early stuff and thought his role in the film The Man Who Fell To Earth was outstanding!

Will have a listen to Queen Bitch and Gene Genie tonight.

God bless

normally I hate when an "event" takes over the media but the news today shows the depth of feelings all over the world
its like a royal death or major film star and music is all about emotion Thumbs Up

That would be Rod Stewart, then.

Hope not.
I still havent got round to "buying" that album yet Laughing

I reckon next in the Celebrity Deaths (not necessarily musical) has got to be Kirk Douglas. I was shocked to even find out he is still alive Laughing

There are some celebs death that I fear. Not because I like them but quite the opposite. Can you imagine the hell of wall to wall Cliff tributes when he kicks the bucket? Shocked

Agreed, He was not my favourite kind of music, Truth be told I only liked a couple of handfuls of songs. But the songs I did like are not just good songs, they are iconic. Songs like Space Oddity, Heroes, Star Man are fantastic pieces of music and I would take those over any of the autotuned over processed shite that is around today.

Do you remember PWEI? well essentially "pop" has "eaten" "itself" and digested itself and finally shat itself out as massive entertainment turd made up of "acts" that are effectively historical reenactment groups. Pop, Rock, Soul, or whatever kind of popular music has had its day as anything of any kind of socio-political or cultural importance. It had meaning in the decades following WW2 as part of the momentous period of radical social change. That's over now.

You have to have the bodies or no one will believe they're dead so forever after we have to endure the speculation over their return.

I've said it before but Il say it again. There needs to be a celebrity cull every ten years.
