PostPosted: 08:44 - 11 Jan 2016    Post subject: Somebody just chinned me Reply with quote

This weekend my 15 year old son had a birthday party at our house. He was a bit concerned that word had got out so he prepared a guest list, and I volunteered to stay outside to make sure nobody tried to gatecrash. All was going well until a couple of girls (who were invited) turned up with a drunk chap, who apparently had overheard them talking about a party and followed them up the street. The drunk asked if he could come in and I politely said 'no', explaining that it was a kid's party and that he wasn't invited. He said that if I didn't let him in he would get a bunch of his mates up to 'cause trouble'. He moved towards the door and I stood in his way, again explaining that he wasn't coming in and suggesting politely that he go away. I turned to the girls to make sure they were ok, and with no warning the scrote chinned me, then ran away as fast as he could. I spent the rest of the night in the garage waiting for him and his mates to arrive. Thankfully nobody did and the party went well. I now have two loose teeth and a swollen face.

My question - should I take it further or should I let it lie? I know he used to go to the kid's primary school many years ago and is about 21 years old. Finding out who he is and where he lives would be easy. I've no intention of getting into a fight as I have too much to lose (plus he and his mates would probably kick the shite out of me as I am a 49 year old bloke with glasses...), but at the same time it annoys me that idiots like him feel they can hit people and run away.

The two girls and my son. The last thing I want though is for the kids to get involved.

Report it on 101, if you can find out the bloke's name then there's a good chance he'll get nicked or at least interviewed about it. Take photos of any injuries. Any CCTV around, on neighbours houses, council CCTV?

Get to a dentist then, sort out what's important and forget the rest. He won't learn any lessons from anything you can legally do to him, even if you do find him. Sad, but true.

The reality is that he knows where you live and he's not bothered about initiating violence.

Dibble will do essentially nothing. The courts will do essentially nothing, and take 6 months to do it. Any civil claim to get compensation for dental work will likely go nowhere except smashed windows and slashed tyres.

However...

Retaliation in the form of violence will achieve little but set a bad example for your kid(s).

Report it to the police. Let them deal with it. Expect nothing to come of it, be happily surprised if it does. IMO reporting it is purely for the sake of crime figures.

Come to terms with the fact that you got punched in the face and in all likelihood the scrote will get away with it.

The problem is if he gets nicked and then denies it in interview then it's essentially your word against his.

If your son and the two girls were willing to give a statement and saw the whole thing then it could be a different matter.

You did your job by stopping the scum from coming into the house. No real damage was done and the party was not impacted. Forget about it now unless the same individual tries to cause you trouble in the future.

He's probably cowering somewhere, shitting himself in case you are out hunting for him.

I'm all about the unexpected, so personally, I'd not indulge in anything immediate or public. But I would certainly make it my business to know where he lives and to ensure I was well acquainted with his habituals, in case a karmic opportunity presented itself to indulge in much more vicious retribution at a later date.

Such as anonymously reporting to police that you've seen lots of people coming and go-ing from his house looking furtive. Shifty

@OP. Bonus points for telling the dentist that the big kids did it then they ran away.

He ran away and told all his "mates?"/ anybody who would listen, how he beat up the bouncer at a private party!

Might be a good idea to know who he is and where he lives, just for future reference.
You may never need it, but just in case Thumbs Up .

Failing that, find him and set him on fire Laughing allegedly Wink

Yes, after he's forced to pay for them... no, wait.

Please think through the consequences of that advice.

As above, either work out a way to get the tools of the State involved without any comeback to you, or laugh it off and let him get on with living the gangsta life until karma catches up with him.

If he's allowed to get away with violence he'll just keep doing it. For the sake of his future victims, get him nicked.

That just creates more potential problems for the OP though. Going down that route you have to be prepared to face whatever fallout ensues, no way of knowing what that will be.

As it stands, OPs face will stop swelling, scrote will most likely keep away for fear of getting knicked/kicked. I would chalk it up to experience and move on.

At least go to the Police and give them the details so they know to keep an eye on him. Get the injury recorded just in case. The police probably already know the guy and may have some idea whether he would be likely to intimidate witnesses etc.

If I'd have been caught out with an opportunist sucker punch the way the op has, I'd be finding out where the scrote lives and exacting some revenge while making damn sure he knew what it was for.

Don't listen to the ignore it type comments.

Ignoring it and hoping it goes away never makes it go away.

I know this from school and from the Chinese community.

The Chinese community was (and still is in some parts) attacked regularly. They thought we'd never fight back due to the Uncle Chan effect where they don't want to draw attention to themselves or make trouble so for the 40s, 50s and 60s we suffered excessive violence constantly.

Until a few of us snapped and started murdering people who had attacked them.

Most famously in Hereford a Chinese guy stopped a dine and dash group and killed two of them with a hammer and made the last one live the rest of his life eating through a straw. The guy begged for mercy but still got his head bashed in. He was questioned by police but never charged.

Near Wigan a similar thing happened. A bunch of thugs tried the old if you can knock us down you can take the money from our wallet. Unfortunately the chefs were extremely capable fighters and had a poor grasp of English. So once they had beaten up the thugs they were begging for mercy. They didn't understand and simply beat him to death. They got 2 years in prison for this.

Attacks on Chinese fell considerably after these events.

If you tolerate this... well then your children will be next in line for this sort of behaviour.

Identical things happened to other minority communities.
