Trying to put together a little PC for the Mrs so it makes it easier for Uni work and also a bit of gaming.

Got a modular 700W PSU, Corsair H75 and 660 Ti to start with, RAM and SSD's are easy enough to pick up but I'm really struggling with a CPU/Mobo combo. For example I can pick up an i7-9xx for ~£30 but finding a suitable board? I can't find anything suitable that isn't in modern price territory.

What happened to older hardware being cheap and useless? Shocked

What's your total budget?

Do you need mouse, keyboard, monitor, speakers etc?

They'll be required eventually but the rig itself is the main concern at the moment.

Budget is as cheap as possible. Trying to go sub £150 in parts.

cpc have some cheap old stock sitting on the shelves.

I have no idea about compatability with the various CPUs though.

Cheers for the heads up.

Any idea why the 1366 boards cost as much as newer Z77/87/97 equipment? What happened to older technology losing its value?

Bit of a kicker when the CPU's for the socket are so cheap.

Back to the drawing board, ideally want to stick with Intel due to the prospect of turning it into a Hackintosh to help support her photography work for Uni.
