a mate of a mate told my mate then he told me...
his new zx10r gets 135 mph in 1st and 180 mph in 4th, completely standered i said thats a bit much and said i dont beleive him untill he puts a go pro on his dash to prove it, he said he would but still nothing, he said the guy only weighs about 70 kg but i said that wont make a great different on top speed, mayb acceleration will be quicker but unless he has a tiny sprocket on the rear i didnt think them speeds in them gears where possible? and he deco said stander gearing and in mph so untill proof i aint gonna beleive it. what do you guys think ?

I think you should give time to thinking about important stuff instead of letting someone's bragging bother you.

Google - top speed of a Zx10r and you'll find that it goes to about 143mph est, Maybe he was reading the Kph part.

Tell him video, I would like to see his 135mph bike going in first.

My Street Triple will do 80mph in 2nd... So 130mph in 1st from a litre bike sounds plausible.

Does the ZX10R take the speed of the front wheel or the front sprocket of the final drive? If later, shorter final drive gear ratio will mess up the speedo reading quite significantly = the speedo will show way more than it should.

So, I do believe his motorcycle speedo can show 135 mph in the first gear, but the real actual speed would be way, way lower. Wink

He's full of sh!t, he's either mucked about with the gear sensor settings in the ECU or he's changed the sprockets which i would doubt.

because if you told me you done a 200 mph wheelie i wouldnt beleive you but it dont mean its not true you could show me video footage and prove me wrong, im asking to see if it is possible from a 210 hp bike where as my 180 hp bike does 101mph in 1st i was asking if there any proof if anyone has done them speeds in 1st

Yes, it is possible. Why wouldn't it be? In fact, you could have no gears on the bike, and the bike would still do the top speed, of 299kph, it did in the 6th gear. Thumbs Up

Sit on your bike, put it in the 6th gear and take off. Most of the bikes can handle that. So why wouldn't he be able to put a bit longer final driver gear ration there and doing 135mph in the 1st gear? If you put there the final drive gear ratio long enough, you're gonna effectively make the 1st gear into the 2nd or even 3rd gear. The bike will still accelerate from standing still, not so swift, but it would work.

EDIT: Well, you would need at least one gear (the final drive) in order to do the top speed with no gearbox.

If your bike doesn't go fast enough in first, why not change into second?

Radical I know, but I find it works for me. Thumbs Up
