So I downloaded Quake Arena and set it going. Went into the settings and turned everything up as my new super computer will handle anything.

Anyway the game doesn't like it and it crashes out giving me jibba jabba about graphics and stuff. Anyway I can't restart the game as it crashes every time it starts.

So what can I do? I don't see how I can contact Steam about it and the so called support (ie other gamers issues) doesn't cover it. What can I do now?

Under normal circumstances you can uninstall and reinstall the game but what about when it's on steam?

You can right click the game in your library and delete the game files, however this seems like overkill.
I would suggest you try and find the config file with your graphics settings in it and moving it to another folder, this should return the game settings to default. I'm not familiar with Quake Arena so i don't know where it located. Google is your friend

as above, i dont know anything about QA -
but you can right click the game in your library and select "browse local files", there should be some config (or .CFG) file for graphics in there somewhere

alternately: (your drive letter)- F:\Program files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\[GAME NAME] will take you there too.

Sorry I'm none the wiser. Even if I can get into the config I don't know what to do. If I delete the game, because I've paid for it can I not just download again?

Yeah delete or uninstall and re download for free. Otherwise you can probably go start, programs, find the games there and sometimes they have a game settings in a separate app.

You don't need to open it, just delete it. Go to C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\Common\Quake 3 Arena\baseq3 and look for a file called q3config.cfg. Delete, move or rename it.

Now go back into steam, right click on quake and hit properties, go to the local files tab and click "Verify the integrity of game cache". It'll detect the missing config file and replace it with the default one.

Whilst we're talking about Steam... has anyone tried the Steam Link (streaming thing to a TV, that what you're talking about sutty?) or the Steam controller?

More curious about the Steam controller and how good it is in comparison to the trusty Xbox / PS pads.

Yes Jay got both ,paid 50 quid off eBay for both brand new.
Steam box works amazing best to use homeplugs if possible or at least wired or Ethernet from PC to router.

Very happy with the box also you don't need to use a nvidia card.
I was running my R9 On it , but regretted selling it as I was going to buy a nvidia shield but no point in doing that now.

The controller is suppose to be the bee knees, halfway between pad and keyboard

There is great video on YouTube search battlefront steam controller

Pad supports gyro so you can get precision aiming.
But I've yet to master it

There is also loads of support on steam for games in the actual configs of steam titles for the pad.

If you have other non steam games there's a good site
Google steam controller database and you can download configs from there.

I have yet to see what the streaming differentials between pi2 and using moonlight.

Maybe I'll have a go at that tomorrow.

but yes I'm very impressed with the actual box and pad.....

Dunnit, went for easy option and uninstalled. Great game quake and back onto quake live at last. This was the catalyst in building a new computer because the old one didn't reach minimum specs for steam. Shocked Rolling Eyes

Thx all.
