 |
|
"Freedom of speech is all well and good. But the truth of the matter is this. A line has been crossed. And it’s time our politicians acted to prevent it ever happening again.
I’m not talking about Donald Trump here. I’m talking about people who sign petitions to Parliament. Can’t something be done to stop them? More than half a million of them signed a petition demanding the Republican publicity-magnet be banned from entering the UK. And this afternoon, all because of them, three hours of parliamentary time had to be wasted on what has a reasonable claim to being the most asinine debate in modern political history.
Here’s how pointless it was. First, it attracted, at most, only 40 MPs (the most high-profile of whom was Keith Vaz, who left inside the first 10 minutes). Second, it took place in a little room in Westminster Hall, not the Commons chamber. And third: not a single person present actually had the power to ban Trump, because that would be a decision for the Home Secretary, who wasn’t present, and in any case doesn’t want to ban him.
The worst of it, though, was that the debate was broadcast on US TV. Now that the Americans have seen this, we’ll never be able to affect intellectual superiority over them again.
Most MPs present, as it turned out, opposed banning Trump. But they were none the less determined to put him in his place.
“We British are pretty good at roasting beef,” gurgled Paul Scully (Con, Sutton). “Why don’t we roast Trump instead!”
“If he met one or two of my constituents,” cried Victoria Atkins (Con, Louth & Horncastle), “they would tell him he’s a wazzock!”
“Bring him here,” barked Gavin Robinson (DUP, Belfast East), “and let him go home with his tail between his legs!”
“Donald Trump is an idiot,” mumbled someone or other from the SNP.
Among those who did want Trump banned was Jack Dromey (Lab, Erdington). “He shouldn’t be allowed within 1,000 miles of our shores!” he barked, thus banning Trump not only from Britain but Portugal, Sweden and Poland. Whether we’ll have to build a vast Trump-blocking wall a third of the way across the Atlantic, he didn’t say.
One of the few actively sticking up for Trump was Philip Davies (Con, Shipley). Although he disagreed with Trump’s views on Muslims, he applauded him for his “straight talking”, on the grounds that “I’m a Yorkshireman”. Like almost all Mr Davies’s parliamentary utterances, his speech essentially consisted of saying “It’s political correctness gone mad” over and over for 10 minutes at steadily increasing volume.
“People find it refreshing to see a politician who has the guts to stand up and say what he thinks, even when it’s controversial!” yapped Mr Davies. By this point I’d lost track of whether he was talking about Donald Trump or himself.

The real question is why did it even attract those 40 MPs? Was it compulsory for them?
Or is it because they knew it was being broadcast in the US and they wanted to be room meat. |

Only the UK could faff about for years trying to evict sponging benefit anti UK hate preachers like Hamza, before the yanks finally sorted him out.
Yet the same country would run a media campaign to ban a yank for saying he'd like to stop Muslims from entering his country until they knew it was safe.
Hamza was more welcome in the UK than trump. Hamza took hundreds of thousands of pounds from the UK and preached hate against it, Trump invests money into the UK and hasn't preached anything against the UK. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

Or maybe it's a win for parliament.
ie that his oppinions count for so little, they paid lip-service to a debate about him in a generally lacklusture and denegrating fashion.
Maybe I should start a petition to get the government relax the planning regulations on errecting wind farms near golf courses? ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

He likes being talked about.
They like talking about things.
I like when they waste their time talking about banning things rather than actually legislating for banning things.
I'd call that a win-win-win. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

I think it's great that people can petition for, debate issues like this. Trump is a high ranking politician, so I do consider it to be different to doing the same with a normal citizen. However (yeah, always a but), this is always lopsided. It's fine to talk about banning Trump and other right wing people, but the same isn't possible with Islamic nut jobs, feminists, anti-white racists and so on.
My personal favourite petition was the EU referendum petition in 2011 and the subsequent rebellion against the government. Full list of who voted for, yes even Caroline Lucas!

Philip Davies is much more controversial than Trump! The difference is, Trump is doing this as a stunt to get the nomination, after which he will shift at warp speed to the centre ground to whore off a wider section of voters. Phil Davies expresses his views just the same, whether its before or after an election! I do like Philip though, he does speak his mind, a big improvement over the fence sitting everything neutral no views Blairites like bLiar, clueless Clegg, C.A.moron, and the awkward and second place Milibands.

... and Trump was a SNP ambassador. We all know what they would be saying if he had been working with UKIP! Racist, racist, racist! But when it's with the SNP, it's not racist.
If it wasn't for double standards, would they even have any standards? |

His country, his right to say what he wants, Sadly we don't have the same rules, the balls and the nounce to stand up to what is happening.
I don't believe banning Muslims from entering America will per say stop the problems, but the rest of the Muslim world will not be happy and funnily enough, standing to them and refusing things they normally expect as their rights will upset them. I bet they will do more to rectify their problems if America bans them than they will ever do carrying on like we are.
Cheers me up mind that someone actually says what he believes. Personally I don't want any more muslims in UK. What? Why? You racist PB!!! Maybe but a stand has to happen
Actually I don't want Cologne happening in Milton Keynes, I don't want more Rotherham and Rochdale, I don't want the rights of British women to be compromised by Muslim ideals.

I don't agree with female genital mutilation which has been illegal for years but never prosecuted because the powers don't want to upset communities.
I don't believe women are second class people who should be covered up in case they inflame the elite males who can't be held responsible in case they rape said siren.
So I say Welcome Mr, Trump. At least someone is standing up for Western democracies rather than Islam ass licking. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

Surely it just goes to show that we are a Democracy and that people's opinions will be given lip-service in a public arena. I'd rather this sort of politics than US razzamataz where the soundbyte with the most glitter wins... ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Andrew Marr, on the Politics show this morning just said Donald Trump had blamed the snow on the east coast of USA on Muslims, calling it Islamic snow
I can't find it anywhere else so maybe he was taking the piss but either Trump has totally lost the plot or Marr could be getting into hot water saying that.
Either way I spat my tea over the dog. ____________________ Triumph Trophy Launch Edition |

I'd expect Google to have at least one reference if it was true. Sounds almost like the old pig fecker trick to discredit a politician, as used on Cameron.
I can't find the link now, but it was relating to an old US presidential election where one accused the other of having relations with a pig, knowing it was made up, just to force the other to have to deny it. ____________________ TZR250 2MA road, TZR250 1KT road, TZR250 2MA race, TDR250, YZF-750R Boost colours.

My daughter told me this today and asked if he was serious. I explained that Trump is a very clever man, who has said some outrageous things as part of his campaign to drum up support from the right, and is now pretending it is all a bit of a joke to obtain support from the centre as well. Don't under-estimate this wiggy buffoon - he is the US equivalent of Boris Johnson and like Boris is gaining power on the back of his buffoonery. People like a clown.

Anyone who goes against the trend and speaks out against muslims is fine with me. I don't even care if most isn't
true, If they can play propaganda then so can we. And Trump is a black belt. It just shows he hasn't been
fooled into thinking something bad will happen to him if he does.
Well... beyond the usual vacuous beardy ranting always with one finger pointing at something that never quite
makes it into shot and at best responsible for a few piddling little explosions anywhere on this planet that
actually matters. Oh and a lucky sucker punch to the US that gets 9 out of 11 at best. But if they had tried to
attack the Twin Towers any other way than they did, they would have failed. Soldiers they are not. Even they were not
expecting the buildings to fall. Otherwise mostly they blow up their own gaff, that's of course if they can stay off
the prayer mat long enough to actually do anything tangible beyond make ranty youtube videos or Allah-logs™.
In the UK, it's clear that what they can do here as terrorists (or citizens) is pretty limited, mainly they
excel at things that are mostly related to praying, raping, beating women, and walking around in pyjamas.
DURING THE DAYTIME!?! Savages.
Oh they can drive the hell out of a rapecab, forgot about that... And they probably feast on the carcasses
of their aborted female offspring too, fuck it, yeah why not.... Propagandas a bitch.
But think... If outstretched fingers could take over the world eh? It would sure be a different place.

I don't know whats funnier, that 'Islamic pointing' is a thing or that Corbyns face was so near the top of the search results. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha
