What is the "E" number at the beginning of the code? E14?

Does anyone know where one can be bought over the counter? Before I give up?

Pop down to Otley and Beks in the arcade (next to parish church & navies memorial). They do these sort of bulbs. Not sure they are open today though Thumbs Up

Maplins have them. Fridge bulbs, oven bulbs, the lot.

Got my fridge bulb from there last week.

Crossley Spares will almost certainly keep them and they will be less expensive than any of the places that others have mentioned.

Hey, it's not all doom and gloom, bubba.

You know how a stopped clock tells the correct time twice a day . . .
Well, chill to the fact that when the fridge door is closed the bulb is working perfectly! Idea Thumbs Up

About 4 years ago I bought my fridge freezer for £20, after about 6 months the freezer would get down to -22°c but the fridge would stay at around +10 - 12, after replacing the 2 thermostats and not sorting the problem I done a bit of reading and found there was a resistor that caused the problem I was having. I found the resistor and it more or less broke off in my hand, so I twisted the 2 legs together and everything worked.

One day I opened the fridge door and noticed the bulb had blew, so I removed the cover, started to unscrew the bulb then there was a massive bang and a flash from behind the bulb and the fridge died.

Because I couldn't afford a replacement at the time I decided to find out what had happened and came across this on the PCB:

All from unscrewing the bulb.

But rather than letting a decent fridge/freezer go to waste, I followed the wires back and bridged them just before the PCB, that was around 3 years ago and it still works perfectly Thumbs Up
