ive always had a beard *(by always i obviously wasnt born with a beard, despite my manliness as a child, and i also never had a beard when i was in the army (just wasn't allowed))
but since about 20 ive never been clean shaven,
but said "beard" was always shortish, (apart from that time in the early 2000's when the goatee without the mustache was semi-popular among the youth of the metal listening population)

ive always used clippers to keep everything under control,
that was until the mrs put a bet up, she was growing her mighty curly mop for charity, and i was to not shave until her hair reached the required level to send to some kiddy for a wig.

any way, .. im growing a homeless man style beard,
i dont work in an office, or have any requirement to look kept in in substantial manner, i fix shit, so no one gives a fuck as long as said shit is fixed,

so looks aside, beard is getting a bit unruly after, 4 months or 5?
im getting a bit tempted to trim a little at the back of my jaw

i even went so far as to plug in my clippers, but thought id get the opinion of the bcf massive, on what should be done.

so some selfies. under normal circumstances i can think of no reason why a grown man should take a selfie, these should be restricted to teen-agers and good looking women.. but needs must,
sorry in advance,
not a teenager, not good looking, or a woman.

https://s21.postimg.org/r53pi2nmf/DSC_0220_Medium.jpg

so whats the opinion?

i'd say i probably have atleast 6months possibly a year.
possibly i'll get a dog and sit on some street corner with a blanket and make money like that.

leave it be, give it a trim??
some other option

You look homeless, I can smell the piss from here.

However, it seems to suit you so I voted to leave it be.

If you like your beard: As you were.

If you don't: Shave

Are you going for the full on zz top?

https://www.zztop.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2014/09/zz-top.jpeg

Basically when I think my beard's starting to look good I shave it Smile CBA shaving every few days but once every couple of weeks or so stops you looking too hobo. Also noticed the ladies prefer it when you don't have face pubes.

Dye the beard black, cut off one leg and replace with a peg leg, carry a parrot on your shoulder, and a cutlass, and wander around shouting "Aye, me hearties, pieces of eight!"

Idea Question

I never let it go this far, I always trim whenever I feel like my mouth is filled more with my beard than the food I'm stuffing in. Laughing

Grapple me grapenuts!

My advice is develop a deeper, booming voice and a repertoire of filthy, implausible stories and go full Brian Blessed, then you can leave the beard alone.

AFAIC there are two big drawbacks with "proper" beards, either they look like there could be food particles or wildlife buried in there, or, if you trim and manscape it, you look like the kind of bloke who is just that little bit too concerned with his appearance. Or a hairdresser.

My other advice therefore, is to shave it off.

I let mine grow out when I have my annual post Christmas diet, ready for the summer. It makes the weight loss seem
more of a contrast when I shave the beard off Wink as well as being a visual reminder right round my pie hole that
I'm trying to watch what I eat for a while. This years diet is delayed thanks to my course of (long overdue)
treatment at the dental hospital, two more rounds of extractions and they can start filling in the gaps again. I had
more out yesterday and can only eat ice cream at the moment. Subsequently, the beard is currently pretty
short. I haven't been fully clean shaven for over 20 years.

I'd love to go the full ZZ-Top, but alas once it reaches a couple of inches it gets uncomfortable so I trim it back. The great thing is when I trim it back I literally look ten years younger (still fucking old, just not so old).

ditto, especially as the white hair is more noticeable the longer I let it get.

When will she meet her required hair length?
Have you sorted a deal for when she's met the target so you can both be clean shaven at the same time?

I feel sorry for the kid that will have your beard as a wig..... Shocked

It makes you look very rugged, like you are just a checked shirt away from ripping trees down with your bare (or bear) hands. If you like the beard keep it but possibly give it a trim to maintain its luxurious appearance and overall beard-health.

Personally I am not a fan of ze facial hairs. Too scratchy.

Trimming your beard is a form of grooming, which is not manly. The only acceptable approach is to let the barber tidy it up while you're having your hair cut.

Keep growing it.
