 |
|
So my wife started going to breastfeeding mums group for company while I'm in work. Inevitably she made friends with a lot of them and they are all hippies and vegan. (think those two terms are interchangeable).
Anyway she's been indoctrinated and given a suggestion to watch some interesting documentaries, namely Cowspiracy and Earthlings. I quite enjoyed Cowspiracy, thought it was interesting - not entirely sure if their facts are 100% correct but they raise an interesting point. Since this my wife did the weekly shop and came back with nothing but Vegan friendly food....
So for the past week I've been veg'ing it up and not had any dairy or meat at all - thought id be a quivering mess by now. However I feel fucking fantastic, full of energy, clear headed and happy. Very odd.
So decided to watch the documentary called 'Earthlings - linky'. This one was harder to watch, my wife watched 30mins and had to stop - so I decided to watch the rest of it during my lunch break today (not the brightest idea ). Decided to try this vegan lifestyle for the month of Feb to see how I feel. The meat alternatives are actually not bad.
Anyone else tried this?
Benefits I notice so far:
- Need less sleep and when I wake up I feel much more alert and full of energy during the day
- Don't feel bloated/heavy after a meal
- Brain fog has disappeared
- Feel less fat
- Feel less depressed/anxious
Will see how it goes ____________________ Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. |

I wouldn't say given it up but not had any since New Years Eve.
Probably is placebo.
|
Not placebo, you are experiencing a real effect but don't underestimate the "benefits" not drinking can bring.
IME vegans are a pain, but somehow I can't see you being a militant or indeed permanent vegan. Not eating meat is one thing but life is too short to have to scrutinise ingredients lists for anything that has hurt te aminals. You might live longer but it's a miserable life without steak, eggs, cream and roast dinners! Not to mention booze!
I'm certain that, long term, the human organism needs a varied diet that includes animal and animal products to be properly healthy. That shouldn't stop you sourcing ethical, humane meat, dairy and eggs.
In other news however......

evolution has made us Omnivorous
we have teeth to cope with meat and a stomach to digest it
pandas are the same but decided to go back to Vegan and look what happened to them
why save them they committed ecological suicide by not eating meat and spend all day eating bamboo they find hard to digest ____________________ I have become comfortably numb

How can you recognise a vegan if you meet them in a bar?
They'll tell you.
So you have the first thing about veganism correct already. ie. banging on about it to anyone who will listen. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

How much veg did you eat before?
Ever since moving in with my partner I've eaten a lot more veg. To my surprise, veggies can actually taste really good when they have been cooked properly.
Having a more healthy diet certainly makes me feel better. I also eat a lot less meat now, but I don't miss it. I have it when I want it, but I find that there are actually a lot of meals out there that taste really good without using meat - a vegetable curry for example.
Downside is now that my diet has moved from 'appalling' to 'okay', whenever I buy something like a greasy pizza, I feel groggy the next day ____________________ 2004 R1 & 2018 XSR900 |
