Okay folks just thought I'd post this here since someone might find it useful...
Right I recently bought a GZ 125 ( Marauder ) to fix up and sell later on..just something to work on and keep me busy.
The previous owner took really bad care of the bike..I mean it was just a piece of s**t...you know..
Someone reversed into the thing and instead of claiming insurance the guy just left it as is...
So the rear hub was all bent out of shape, the rear brake light switch where the connecting wire comes was held together by a paper clip...I have to give him credit for ingenuity, tank was bent from the fall, no mirrors, missing indicators, battery pretty much none existent, choke was broke, wrong spark plug.....the list goes on....anyway you get the idea.
So got down and dirty and stripped it to bits, gave it a new paint job, fixed all the broken bits....all good!
But ran into a problem with the carburetor...I don't know if it was him that fudged with it or someone else but the poor thing Oh my! I pity the little bike. So I tried setting the thing up but everything inside and out was messed with..the screws and all that were grinded down to pulp inside and out...I tried so many different things to get it sorted...nah..nothing helped.
So my only option was to just get a new carburetor...right>?
Well....the cheapest and only carb on eBay at the time was ...guess what..150!!! What the hell!
I tried looking everywhere..nothing came up!
So I tried searching if anyone managed to successfully replace one of these with a different carb off a different bike...
Guess what this one guy actually did, but he described it very vaguely in this one sentence....
So the moment you have been waiting for..
Yes it did work and the carburetor I used to swap was off a GS 125...fits like a glove! Works even better...only two things is you can't use the choke on the handle bar but you have to use the one on the carb instead( old school ), and the throttle positioning sensor has nowhere to go, however as far as I understand it's used to adjust the timing ever so slightly, and as of now it seems all good!
This is the one I used ( if admins have an issue with the eBay listing feel free to put it down, but can you please leave the pics there? )
