I get this fairly often, people switching lanes without indicating and it pisses me off. This fuckin idiot must of been sleeping at the wheel because he didnt seem to realise what he did.

You were in their blind spot.

You also had a metre (at least) of space to the white line at the traffic light. Take a dominant position by being up to it and not in the weaker position near the rear of a car, where you were.

Unobservant driver. Being that far away (and probably looks further than is because of wide angle lens) from the stop line might not have helped. Could be that at the lights he wasn't looking anywhere but straight on and didn't notice you until you're bike had got going and caught up alongside him by which time he was already moving across lanes.

To create a situation like you've seen in the video. Wink

I'll go right up to the line and sometimes even glance over to the drivers to make sure that they've spotted me. You were in a terrible position there.

10 seconds to 40mph?

Also, OP sees car coming at him, and sits next to him shaking his head. Could have easily reduced speed. Potential for pain much reduced.

That's what his video is.

Either OP doesn't know what his right hand is for. Or Loser plate bikes are epically dull.

Or both.

Well I know I was not in the wrong whatever anyone else says. If he had of hit me he would of been 100% to blame. He didn't indicate or look to his right or he would of seen me.

Reducing speed would of been silly as I was ahead of him and he already didn't know anyone else existed on the road. Me not being right on the stop line does not give anyone the right to do what he did.

You're right, everyone else is wrong, I get it now.

We'll get it engraved on your tombstone "Technically I was correct, the best kind of correct".

Lets not go backwards to potato. You made this post and put the video online and therefore opened yourself up to criticism alternatively you could have just shook your head and carried on with your ride and deleted the footage like nothing ever happened but here we are.

The distance between your bike and the stop line is mentioned because if the driver is only looking forward at the lights and not all around him then he's not going to see you because you're in his blind spot hence why he would have performed the lane change without thinking twice because in his mind the lane was clear. Yes a mirror check and signal wouldn't have gone a miss prior to lane change but if his mind was made up that nothing was beside him then why would he as he's signalling to no one and looking for nothing (in his mind). The lane change from the driver was lazy and unobservant but you could have been in a better position prior to the lights going green to prevent such a situation.

Also might want to stick to lane 1 in the future if you don't have the power to beat people off the lights. I'm not criticising just advising since I also ride a tiddler and don't put myself in unnecessary danger as best as possible.

Also did the driver turn right further up the road or stay behind you and carry straight on? I ask because if he didn't turn right and carried on straight that leads me to think two things (1) he doesn't know what lane he should be in when not overtaking (2) he got bored of you being on a 125 in lane 2 and decided to go for the undertake after the lights and instead this happened.

I know I should of been closer to the line but it seems like people are dismissing what the driver did wrong just because I'm not on the line or I ride a 125.

I was in the middle lane because people pulling out from side roads and people turning left slows me down.

After the video the driver carried on the lane change and went straight on. I switched into lane 1 further up the road to turn left and to get out of his way.

What you don't want to learn is that being right and staying alive are two very different things. People treat L plates as lower than low. Your speed is limited as is your acceleration.

I'd have been in the left lane to avoid getting in the way of people in cars doing exactly that. They will bully you out of the way simply because they can.

You need to stay alive long enough to get your proper license and a proper bike and then learn some road positioning skills that relate to a bike that has the power to get off the lights quicker than the cars do.

This is not about right or wrong and nor is it about educating car drivers. If they foul up or have a moment of dimwittedness, all they do is bounce off stuff, sadly that also includes you.

Why would I want to remove the video, I don't mind seeing peoples opinions. I usually expect drama or people giving me shit when I post on any forum, that's just what people do on the Internet.

Overly-dramatised non-event. You would have been better off not making a big show of head-waggling and paying more attention to the OTHER vehicle which was subject to get-over arrows.

Make your intentions clear. Don't hang back in driver's blind spots. Stake your place on the road and don't leave other drivers guessing about what you are going to do.

Oh and stop whining.
