What a waste

Some other person could have had that bike.

Yes, they can chase bikes. In that case air support was called - it's one of the "recommendations" made by the IPCC for continuing the pursuit.

Shame the air support isn't an Apache attack helicopter. That'd work

Agreed, this is a result. I hope it doesn't trigger any change in Met policy.

100% agree with this scenario.
Molly coddling kids and showing the state endorsed, no consequence driven code of conduct just sets them up for a life of criminality, abusing the system and making everyone's life around them a misery.

If they want to evade the law then its a choice they make, they should be prepared for what comes with it.

My thoughts go out to their children and partners who will no doubt have to endure a reduced income...

Didn't see anywhere in the article that the police are allowed to chase bikers, just that they decided to do. Perhaps the crash occurred before they were told not to pursue the bike? Perhaps the radio was having signal problems?

They should be allowed to chase them. I seen a group of dirt bikers without helmets the other day and wondered what would the police likely do if they seen them.

Nothing. It's much easier to nick an honest person doing 33mph in a deserted road than chase criminals.

We have kids ride mini dirt bikes around at night, no lights, no helmets and at quite a speed. It's a matter of time til they are potato'd.

its easier to ride with no plate if youre gonna be a cunt, atleast have some riding skills at speed, and aslong as you get away before arnie gets on the radio yelling "get to the choppa" youll be fine.

i dont recommend doing this on a pathetic moped though.. you want atleast a fireblade so the copper driving can yell "i ride one of those i know how fast they go lets not chase it"

do this in murrica youll be pavement soup Very Happy

Why didn't the police see them, were the dirt bikers sitting in their blind spot too?

Since when moped is classed as a bike?

Anyway this is why I like the US system better. Just shoot them on the spot and save money for petrol chasing 'em.
