Leathers or Textile?

OK, this has probably been asked 100 times already but here goes!

I can get a reasonable deal on a RST leather jacket (with thermal liner) and leather bottoms which I'm keen on as they look good and hold all the right protection.

Then theres the textile gear which is ace all year round. Im currently looking at a Furygan 2 piece.

Now my question is what do you guys prefer? Do you use both? If you use leathers how do you deal with being caught out in the rain?

Had both and prefer 2 piece leathers and a cheap rainsuit, kevlar jeans and rainsuit when it's summer.

I have both, started with textile but prefer my 2 piece leathers. Wore them in moderate rain yesterday and still got in to work bone dry. Also with proper base layers under I haven't felt too cold in my RSTs either

That's what I'm thinking. If I get leathers I can throw on some thermal layers etc. If raining buy a cheap waterproof jacket.

I'd feel more secure in leathers and streamlined rather than bulky...

Leather jeans year round with waterproof over trousers when needed.

Textile jacket during the wetter days and leather one if dry.

Start with textiles, then buy leathers, or kevlar jeans. With textiles you can take the thermal layer out and they are OK for summer use until the jeans arrive.

Winter, thermal layer back in and they are great. They are all rounders. Leather in winter is freezing. Leather in summer is roasting. (all 3 days of summer).

Im still in 2 minds. I put on some leathers today with I thought fitted well then got told by the assistant to try a size smaller, which in turn were snug, as leathers stretch during use?

With textiles you don't want too tight?

Generally use 1 piece leathers as fitting/comfort/safety wise they seem best for me, personally. Even with my vented leathers, thermals and a couple of other layers underneath is usually fine in cold temperatures in dry conditions. If its especially cold or raining a 1 piece rainsuit keeps both out well.

Both and different tools for different jobs/situations. For the hot days nipping to the shops, t-shirt, shorts and trainers etc too. Just never ride in a tracksuit if your not sub human pond life scum, and if you are please crash and burn asap.

Textiles - Goretex in particular are king for commuting.

Leathers - For sunny day warriorism they aren't the most comfortable thing to be walking around in. I wouldn't go further than than a leisurely saunter down the pier to enjoy a magical summer's evening shepherds sky when all the humans had fucked off and my bike would be at the top of the pier.

As above - choices.

I have RST textiles for winter / wet - got them because budget at the time.

Then got a Dainese vented leather jacket for summer * because not slim * and i get hot.

Leather trousers for ... i dunno just because they matched the jacket.

I'll get a Dainese Goretex jacket to mix and match with the above trousers if / when the RST gear wears out.

I wear one-piece leathers if I'm going out for a blast and don't expect to be wandering about anywhere away from the bike.

Otherwise, Kevlar jeans and leather/textile jacket. I used to use my leather jacket more, but since I bought a decent all-round textile jacket, I seem to use that all the time now.

Textiles for distance, comfort and practicality.
Leathers (2 piece, zipped) for 'spirited riding'.

Been commuting in a 2 piece leather outfit the last 2 months, with a waterproof jacket. 25 mile ride each way, rarely get wet knees through the trousers.

Standard Richer leathers so nothing too Gucci.

Now this one really may be a stupid question but is it possible to zip your 2 piece suit together whilst in it, or does it have to be down before you put it on then you put it on like a 1 piece?

If it's able to do standing, how in the hell do you do it? I look like a contortionist trying to get it done

Depends on the bike, your riding style, the weather and personal preferences.

If I go to the track I'll buy 1 or 2 piece good leathers. Or if you do three digit speeds on the road on a regular basis. I don't because I need my license.

For my comuting and regular legalish fun rides I feel perfectly comfty and safe in my Furygan CE level 2 textiles.

For the summer I've got kevlar jeans and good vintage leather jacket from fleabay.

I cannot see myself in leather pants with knee sliders on the road for many reasons.
