Now my question is what do you guys prefer? Do you use both? If you use leathers how do you deal with being caught out in the rain?

I use both, 2-piece textiles, 1-piece leathers and 2-piece leathers, depends on the circumstances/weather/ride.
I prefer wearing my 1-piece leathers, they fit much better and will be much more durable should I slide down the road.
I prefer putting on my textiles, because quite frankly my leathers fit like a second skin so they're a bitch to get on and off... infact I can't recall a time I've put my leathers on and not been sweating by the time I finish.
What is best for you depends on what kind of riding you do, what kind of conditions you ride in, and personal preference really ____________________ Current Bike: 1999 Honda CB600 FX Hornet

Generally use 1 piece leathers as fitting/comfort/safety wise they seem best for me, personally. Even with my vented leathers, thermals and a couple of other layers underneath is usually fine in cold temperatures in dry conditions. If its especially cold or raining a 1 piece rainsuit keeps both out well.
Admittedly though, you do end up looking a bit...

Bingo.
Cold weather commuting = Cordura trousers over work clothes, whip them off and you're done. Textile or leather jacket to taste, I usually go textile.
Warm weather commuting = kevlar jeans with a waterproof layer added if necessary. Jacket to taste, usually leather.
Warm weather hijinks = kevlar jeans or leather trousers, vented leather jacket.
If you want one suit to rule them all, it would be a multiple layer Gore Tex lined and well vented textile twatsuit, running to many hundreds of £££.
But where's the fun in wearing the same thing day after day? Pick up some bargains, mix and match, find out what works for you. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
