Hi,

Not having the luxury of a garage I've been looking at different bike covers as mine (Standard Oxford cover) got ripped to shreds in the recent storms.

Does anyone have any experience of these:

If you have space for that, would you not have space for a small wooden shed instead?

I've had one for about 6 months. It's okay, think of it as an Oxford cover which doesn't touch the bike and is easier to get the bike out of rather than a shed-alternative. Keeps the bike out of sight and out of the rain, but I still get condensation on the bike so it's not weather-proof or anything.

One of those is just as likely to get destroyed in a storm, probably more likely to act like a kite than a standard cover.

I would have the room for a bike shed, if I could put it in sideways. It's parked at an angle on the top of the drive.

I thought this would look less awkward on the angle than a shed.

If it's no better than a normal cover I'll just renew that instead.

Pish wash and hogwash.

Mine had bits you could either weight to the ground and ten peg bits inside that would hold it down on soil. It was also tougher than any cover I have ever owned and never got stolen unlike my oxford and specialized covers.

I looked at all he shelters a few years back. They were either little better than a cover, or bloody expensive. Ended up making a little bike-port with corrugated poly sheet between the house and the fence, kept the worst off.

£150 should buy a small wooden shed that would be far more useful. If you use a local place that knocks them up then they would be able to customise it to your purpose.

I got my motorbike shelter from ebay. It's awesome. Can probably be found cheaper elsewhere, can't remember how much mine cost but was under £100.

Fold up, push bike in, fold down. Fold up, pull bike out, fold down.

Worked well with my CBR, works fine with my FZ1 now too. Extremely waterproof.

I use some BBC studio weights on the inside to keep the frame down in the wind, and some more weights on the outside to keep it from flipping up. Can be bolted down too and I'm sure a locking mechanism could be added.
