I have a garage in a block and use a garage defender.
I appreciate the opinion that you may be advertising there may be something to steal inside.
However the fact that anyone can see me working on the bike or taking the bike in or out of the garage means any local scrotes know what's in there anyway.
The more covert locks are indeed better but the garage defender is
a cheap (£45 of ebay), easy to fit alternative and should keep out all but the most determined thieves. ____________________ Current Bike: 2004 Suzuki Bandit 600S

The garage in my current place is 'en block'. The door has a 4-point locking mechanism, so marginally better than your usual up and over. The garages either side seem to always be open, so they will hopefully attract any unwanted attention.
Discretion as the others say, is the key. My garage is not overlooked or visible from the road so very few people know which garage it is stored in. Oh, it's a Versys too so hardly desirable! ____________________ Like a Yorkie - I'm not for the girls |

I have a electric garage door so it's quite difficult to open when the springs are under pressure holding it down.
Also, 30ft drive and 2 cars parked infront of said garage door ____________________ Yamaha MT-09 - Triple powerrrr |

Used one of these garage defenders for years. Its been attacked (hard to tell to what extent) on a few occasions and its still in one piece minus chipped paint.
Could 'upgrade' the padlock to one of these ABUS locks potentially, although the one thats included has been fine for me. |

My shed is protected by a diy Crystal Maze type security setup. Without knowledge of what things to pull/push/lift as you turn on a specific and unique homemade key, you'd need to make an awful lot of noise to get in to it. And it's always viewable via t'internets.
To get to the bikes in the back garden also requires knowledge of how the gate lock operates, though not quite so involved as the shed.
Beats mass produced stuff with their well known workarounds any day. ____________________ A Guide To Powerbands |

+some more, for the enfield locks.
Fitted one on my up and over door, though I really should put the other side on as well. Since moving into the house I was always too lazy to get a garage key cut; I had to break into my garage about 3 times for that. Kept either losing the key or locking them inside, so it was sort of good that it was easy to break into. I either did it by jimmying the locking tabs or once I got a lock picking guide up on my phone and did it in about 10mins If I didn't care about the door it would of been so easy, it's like tinfoil really.
I'd like a 9ft gate next so I can leave the door open without the friendly scrap men seeing what's in there whilst I'm tinkering. Utter fucking scally nob heads. ____________________ '90 VFR750; '89 NC30; '95 DR650; '89 CD250U; ~'82 CG125; ~C90 |

Had some of those Enfield locks fitted to my garage when it was broken into, the locks were stronger than the garage door frame.
A garage defender might be advertising that there's something of value in there but it advertises it like this:

Enfield bolts for me, easy to fit but as mentioned above, make sure the frame is strong enough.
