Micha from AF1 racing is the RS50 expert, hes had 18hp from a 50cc motor. They also run the aprilia forums.

You can get about 23hp from a 70cc race motor.

To race an RS50, it will probably cost you around £50-£100 race entry fee per race meet, a pair of tyres every three race meets, oil every race, if you don't do mechanics or re-jetting of carbs, then god knows how much on mechanics services at each race, unless you want to sit at the back every race, fuel not be too much, oil filters, spares incase you crash, like new fairing, levers, footpegs, bars, gear selector, etc. possibly spare wheels. You'll also need a generator and some tyre warmers, otherwise you'll chase others into the first corner and bin it!

Basically, at a guess, based around 125 racing, I'd say you would need around £300 - £500 per race meet, for racing, food, and the above!

Nice total there of around £3000 - £5000 for a 10 round season, and that's if you already have the bike, in race trim, lock wired and tuned, with all riding kit packed and ready to go! Allow at least another couple of grand for crashing, you will crash, can't avoid it!

Don't mean to be a bummer and put you on a downer, but just let you know the real costs of racing! Crying or Very sad

thats cool, i have the af1 50 ... but recently i just boguht another .. cause i needed a new engine and this worked out cheaper .. so i have 2 bikes, so i thought it may be a basis, oh well i guess there is some 50cc track days.

only reason im spending so much on the aprilia is ... because it is an aprilia lol

nah... im going to be living in london next year and tbh a 50cc or a 125 is the only way to get around .. or maybe a 400 (anything that dosnt look to sporty)

Having been to a few moped mayhem endurance meets, there are two levels of racing.
One is to do it properly and be competitive. Costs too much.
The other way is to get a standard moped, make the minimum of adjustments to it so that it will be "legal" for the racing, and just ride it round and round much more slowly, getting overtaken most of the time, but picking up places as all the tuned mopeds start breaking down and losing an hour of the race whilst they get stripped and repaired.
