Does anyone know whether it is unlawful to keep L plates on your Motorcycle after you have passed your test? Is there a time limit? Is it lawful to use L Plate for work on your motorcycle eg: Pizza Deliveries etc. Can one ride indefinitely on L plates?

I coiuldn't find anything specific in the forum or on gvernment sites....

Thanks for your reply

J

I think the legislation says you 'should' remove them rather than you 'must' remove them. In legal terms there is a world of difference between should (it's not a crime if you don't) and must (it's is a crime if you don't).

Rougenburg will cite you the right references I'm sure Smile.

^^ Correct.

Providing you have a valid CBT and keep renewing it you can ride on Ls forever.
There's no reason why you can't earn a living on a bike on Ls, the vast majority of couriers and delivery boys do.

I can't think of a good reason why you'd keep them on after getting a full licence, they're a magnet for road-ragers and bullies.

You didn't search particularly far, as the previous thread on this is still on the front page of this section:

tl;dr version - nothing requires you to remove or cover them but you should for your own benefit put a bit of tape over them anyway, because coppers walk like this:

Honestly, that's pretty much how the discussion ended.
