 |
|
Got a phone call from the wife this morning when I got to work to say the car door was slightly open and the car had been rummaged through and the fuse box cover was off.
Nothing appears to have been taken as the stack of CD's and sat nav appeared to still be where it should.
What do we think, chancers who tried the door handles and found it wasn't locked (wouldn't be the first time I've gone out to the car and found the wife hadn't locked it) and just had a look through for anything of value.
Or was someone attempting to pinch it?
Thankfully living in a terraced house means the car can be parked outside any of 10 houses (and wasn't outside ours last night) so they don't know for certain which house it belongs to.

No harm done, don't lose any sleep over it. If to want to buy yourself some "peace of mind", my copper chums recommend the Stoplock Pro steering wheel lock. It's what they use themselves, based on attending successful and failed car thefts. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

She normally does, just with a toddler and bags of shopping it's sometimes a case of lean out the door and point the remote while toddler tries to get back out the door!
just had another phone call, had some work kit taken from the boot - of value to buy but of naff all use to someone trying to sell it on so police have been notified. ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

Last time I had a car broken into it was back when I lived in Romford. Car had immobiliser but no alarm, they
smashed the rear quarter, reached in and wound the rear windows down and climbed in through them because
the doors had secondary deadlocks. They took the service record out of the glove box and the charger for my
wifes satnav. Both were dumped in a garden a few doors down and were found a week later. I had to pay
80 odd quid for a replacement quarterlight and seal, and I took the car to a proper car alarm place and spent
another 300 odd quid having a decent TOAD alarm hard wired into the car. It also took a good fortnight for the car
to dry out as it was pissing down the night it was rootled and left with a rear window wide open all night. I was pretty
annoyed about losing the service record, so I was delighted when a neighbour knocked about a week later and
handed it back. It had our address in it because we had purchased the car from the main agent.
Presumably thiefcunt figured out it would tie him to the crime so he lobbed it and probably defaced someone
elses property not long after because he didn't score much from me.. And for all that hassle, a morning off work,
a visit from the SOC people and 400 quid down, the little CUNT didn't even take anything. I wish nothing but an
early and slow death to him. ____________________ Currently enjoying products from Ford, Mazda and Yamaha

You can use your new Stoplock, they're pretty hefty.
Yup, I used to leave my shitters unlocked. Mrs Borg managed to lock the keys in our SEAT once when we were at an historic reenactment event. "Does anyone know how to break into a car without putting an axe through the window?" I asked. 2 minutes later, it was open.
What you'll want to concentrate on it locking your house door. Again from coppermates, most of the successful thefts they attend involve a pikey just opening the front door and grabbing whatever's to hand. If that includes your car keys, then they'll drive away with their loot. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Car keys live hidden in the dining room except when she leaves them in her coat pocket...
it's her car...
The area we live has a reletively low crime rate, or did until recently. The local police station has closed and is being sold off - it was only open a couple of days a week anyway. We mainly have petty crime and people stealing catalytic converters from Merc vans.
I know the car won't lock if the doors aren't shut properly. ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.
