Has anyone ever swapped a 125 for a bigger bike, maybe a 600 after passing their DAS ?

Any websites to recommend ?

125 YBR 2011 with 19k miles.

I'm selling a 125 after having bought a 650.

I decided to sell privately as the offers I got for part exchange were at least £400 below the 125 value. (one offer was £800 below---almost nothing, ie. they really didn't want it but would at a steal)

Bit of a hassle to sell privately and I had to extend overdraft to make the transition but even increased overdraft interest will be incomarible to the low trade-in offers.

I found a scooter dealership that had a single big bike for sale, being a scooter dealer they had no idea about bikes and probably just wanted to get rid of it, so I part-ex'd my knackered old YBR125 for £800 off the FZS600 which I think was a bargain considering I only bought the YBR for £300 Razz Though I'd be curious to know what they did with my YBR and how much they sold it on for.

Excluding a scenario like that, selling privately would probably get you the best deal - but it will take (potentially) forever and be full of time wasting scrotes offering you £50 and a staffy puppy (itz from a champion fighting dog like innit mate, u make loadza money off it if u raise it rite?!)

Not a problem as long as it's the other guy.

You can say the same thing about swapping a bike for £££. There's no right price, there's just what you get for it.

Free market theory says that in any exchange where compulsion isn't used, both parties will believe that it's to their advantage. Otherwise why would they be doing it?

Rode to a dealers on an XR125 once, rode home on a 954 Blade. Nowadays I'd sell private for a few extra quid for the sake of convenience

Thanks for replies.
I hope to have funds April/May.
I remember my DAS instructor saying he would buy my YBR at book price.
I need to get it services as often it now takes 2 or 3 attempts to start it. Has an intermittent fault 19 code.

Nearly swapped my 125 for a Bandit, but it was a POS, and the guy wanted a bit of money as well. I imagine most big bike owners would over value their bikes in a trade.

I bought CBR 125 for a grand.

rode for 2 years, dropped a couple times in snow/ice. nothing major.

dumped it in road after hit some ice approaching roundabout cos driver dude changed his indicators and decided to go the other exit, touched front brake, my mistake.

he just stopped... looked at me, said to his mate on his phone 'one sec some dickhead just nearly hit me' said to me 'watch out mate' and drove off...

front fairings a bit cracked...
front fork seals a bit leaky...

sold it on gumtree for 600....posted at 20:00 and someone was on there way collecting it at 0700 the next day!!
only thing was got messages saying 'i thought it would be gone already at that price' after....

private sale is the way to go,

gumtree is free...
autotrader more people look, but pay comission.

got CBR600F for £1100....

awesome fun!

that was a few weeks after my DAS test.
