The CB250's front brake has been a bit spongy/rubbish the past couple of weeks, so I thought I'd inspect and clean it. A bit of scraping, piston pliaring, valve spring compressor compressing and lever pumping has resulted in almost no benefit. Still, at least I know there's nothing horrendously wrong with it - last time brake fluid was seeping out!

New front fork springs arrived from Wilbers.

More suitable for my tubby arse than standard hopefully

So I set to creating the Devil of the South sculpture

Nearly finished, just need to button up axle, mudguard + calipers tomorrow.

As usual, I fecked it up though. Forgot to undo upper yoke pinch bolts before trying to undo fork cap.... Rolling Eyes
Two new fork caps to go on order.

EDIT:
Jesus. £57 a cap. £57!! Might just dab some paint on the rough edges instead.

Small triumph parts are so pricey. Ask them for price on levers. Neutral

Yesterday I brought my bike outside, filled it up with petrol and rode it for about 40 miles. The weather was so nice Thumbs Up

sold the gixxer.....

A bit sad to see it go, but don't really enjoy riding it anymore after Wales. Riding it 20miles to work through stop start traffic was like keeping a greyhound in a cage. It's going to go to a work colleague, who is hopefully going to do 100miles per year on it and clean it, then I'll buy it back in a couple of years when he gets bored of it and I've tried a few more bikes...

Sent it in for a service and a new centre stand fitted. Feels like a new bike, can't believe service wasn't due for another 500 miles!

I presume you mean that epic roads in Wales were epic and returning to your home turf made everything else seem a bit rubbish?

I had exactly the same thing after getting back from my first foray into Wales. Came back home to the traffic jam known as the South East and couldn't be bothered to go out on the bike for fun. Seemed pointless.

What cured it. Make some aspect(s) of the rest of your life shitter. That way the riding on crap roads doesn't seem such a bad alternative Thumbs Up

Front wheel off and dropped off to have a tyre fitted. Needs new wheel bearings too.

Got the back wheel off to have a good clean around the rear brake and final drive. Gearbox feels like absolute dogshit at the moment so i'm hoping a good deep clean of the chain and sprox will partly cure it.
But i'm pretty sure 18 runs up the strip at Santa Pod has pretty much stretched the gearbox out a bit, thus making it feel shitty.

Prompted by a previous Workshop discussion, I fitted an easy pull clutch widget to the Enfield.

£20, eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111872845386

Verdict: it actually works. There are three settings depending on where you put that little brass peg, and believe that in that position that I've got it set on maximum assist, which still (just barely) gives enough travel. Weirdly, the clutch lever doesn't feel much lighter in the garage, but is noticeably easier on the road.

However the alignment at the 'engine' end is slightly off and the cable rubs slightly. I've packed it out with grease and will keep an eye on it. For now though, qualified win.

Collected my '91 VFR from the dealer and rode a couple hundred miles, visiting my Grandfather and parents in my old home town. Lovely trip and nice sunny weather for most of the time; although the roads were damp and rain showers were frequent on the way home.

Fuelly won't show me the stats for the fuel-up yet, I guess they have to update the server or something...

The trip concluded in me washing road dirt and salt off the bike in the car park at 9 PM Sick Laughing

Got another Pan Euro a couple of days ago just north of Liverpool, rode it the 250 miles home and it's all good.

I've just done oil and filters change, new screen, phone holder, cup holder, sat nav mount, changed top box and mount, new heated grips, power outlets, cigi sockets, took off and cleaned up the bars and throttle tube and cables, lubed the locks, acf50 everything, replaced several fixings with allen key heads, new wind deflector kit fitted.

Jet washed, and part bodged dirt bike.

Cleaned chain, and replaced missing bolt on carrier rack, missing screw on indicator, and got back brake light switch spring reconnected with a cable tie.

Speedo no longer works, does not even appear on the dashboard. Sometimes dashboard flickers, fuel gauge works, clock stuck at 1pm, and odometer on trip meter b.. Indicators work, until engine runs, then they flash super fast.

Gave the Striple's chain a thorough scrub on discovering some surface rust from the last ride. 1st, sprayed with degreaser and worked in with the chain brush. Then rinsed thoroughly with cold water. Then, worked over with WD40, then dried with a rag. Finally, a thorough re-lube. New ABBA stand proved it's worth Thumbs Up

Then took it for a blast and got it all filthy again Crying or Very sad So proceeded to clean and re-lube the chain all over again. Roll on summer!

Used the fucker...

Finally. First ride since about September.
Did tyre pressures + checked the usual stuff first but it's been indoors the whole time under a dustsheet.
Started off the battery ok but it was a bit weak turning over, I'm sure a run did it some good though.
Gave it a nice full tank of petrol while I was out, brought my panniers inside so I can remove the decals from them ready for sale.

Today's tasks involved picking up the wheel with the new tyre fitted.

https://imgur.com/5sXWZgw

Following that, I set upon swapping my inlet rubbers as on had a crack.
A used set from ebay set me back £23. They're in great nick too which is a bonus!

https://imgur.com/JpwKEn9

The offending crackwhore:
https://imgur.com/OLqRCWA

Fuck were the new ones hard to get on! Not as saggy as the old ones!

I also set about cleaning up both sets of brakes, just because they looked mucky.

And then I cleaned and lubed the chain and also gave her a naked wash! (left the fairings off)

Whilst she was lacking her clothes I came to notice a bit of welding required:

Fitted the newly arrived hydraulic brake light switch to the back brake of the XR-SM and bled both brakes while it was sunny this afternoon.

Urgh, don't fancy yours much.

I can get why some people buy rare bikes simple as an objet d'art, but that... Sick
