Hi,

I've just paid a deposit on a 2010 Monster 1100. I'm getting it on finance and just finalizing the details now. It's through Superbike Factory.

As I am in Norway, I won't get a chance to fly over and pick up the bike yet so I'm having it delivered to my sister's. I know I can check on Ebay and about (I also checked a few threads here), but wanted to ask if anyone had any recent good experiences with an affordable company. Looking at Manchester to Kent. The place I'm buying it from want £250 for deliver.

On another note, they keep pushing for the ceramic paint protection for an additional £200. They add it to the finance so it's £4 extra a month or something. Recon this is worth it or is it just a con?

Thanks!

If you pay petrol and return train fare, I'll ride it down.

Cheers, I might take you up on that. I thought you were in France?

I'm just checking locally. I have a mate in Southport so it might make sense to leave it there until I get over.

Ah, fair play. Not a bad deal. I'd imagine the scousers would be just as difficult to understand as the French.

Laughing Probably should have used that as advice when picking up my CBR in Leeds. Took me an hour to tune in to what they were saying.

Yeah, it must be unfortunate to live so close to London. Though I'm starting to think everyone just wants a go on the Monster!

Manchester to Kent? Make sure you've got breakdown cover cos if you manage to lose your keys then you'd be pretty fucked.

Thankfully your breakdown cover will take you all the way to Kent for free. It was incredibly lucky that you didn't set the alarm or put the steering lock on when you parked up at the services where you managed to lose your keys. Wink

A salesman I know who works at a Ford dealership said that the paint protection is basically a £10 product that gets applied as easily as giving the car a quick wipe over with a cloth. And he said that the lads that apply it are very nonchalant about the whole process.

Basically, don't waste your money. Invest in buying your own products and applying them yourself for about 10% of the price.

I had an inkling that was the case. The sales guys push it a little too hard for it to be anything else. Thanks for the insight.

Ste: That's a brilliant idea, lol.

Starting to think if I leave my bike to you guys I'll get it back ragged and with a few extra thousand miles on the clock.

Well, I wouldn't want you to baby coddle her. That would just be inappropriate. You're pretty close by as the place is actually in Chesire - had Manchester on my mind for some reason perhaps cause I'd have to fly in.

I need to figure out what I'm going to do. I may still pick her up myself as I have a mate in Southport who owes me a steak due to a lost rugby bet.

There's worse ways to pass the time.

If I had the option to ride it home to Norway.....

I'll miss the fairing of the CBR I'm sure, but you're not wrong. As for Norway, where we are it's still -15 and about 10cm of ice on the main road. Winter blues made me buy a bike way before I needed to. Roads might be good in a month though. There's some decent roads here in the Spring and Summer - you should definitely make the trek.

+1

I love a good detail and do it all myself. Ok it's not using the latest tech hard coatings but a good polish and seal does me fine.

If you wanted an all singing all dancing coating you could most likely get a local detailer (usually mobile) who specialise in that sort of thing day in day out for in the region of £100-£150 I'd say. Thumbs Up

Me too. I could do with giving my bike a clean now actually. It's only 90% perfect at the moment.

Superbikefactory is based in Macclesfield which is about 30 minutes outside of Manchester so flying in you'd have to get the train or the bus.

Do you recon it would be some sort of weird version of Chinese wispers and I'd end up with a Vespa?

I think I'll end up fetching it myself as it goes. Though appreciate the raise of hands. If you guys ever want to pay three times the price for a bike in Norway then I'd happily return the favour Wink.

Point noted regarding the paint protection, thanks.
