I am looking to purchase a Honda CB125-T 'Super Dream'. Whilst I have been looking for my first bike I came across a wonderful Super Dream but unfortunately I lost out on that one.
Ever since that point I have been looking for a Super Dream. I'd love to get the TD-C model, but I would appreciate any one selling their bike, or anyone who'd be kind enough to point me in the right direction, or possibly, correct my poor (yet throughly researched  ) knowledge.
I am new to motorcycling so bar with me

Theres one that needs some attention. an afternoon with that and you'd have a great condition bike (allmost any part for one of those can be obtained at the local breakers).
I found mine in the local papers; £250 and i got a years useage out of it, sold it to my uncle for what i paid for it, then he sold it on ebay for £400. Bastard.
Why do you want one exactly? |

Thanks for the reply, I did look that one up. To be honest, I thought It would work out too expensive for my budget. I am willing to buy a rather worn bike, in fact, it's about all my budget will allow at the moment .
I'd be really appreciative if you could tell me what I would expect to pay for the parts needed (approx.). I am not too mechanically minded myself.
The thing is my uncle is helping me out here, I look up a bike, note down the details and run it by him. He doesn't like the idea of A spares or repairs bike. It might be due to a bad experience had had himself, not to sure to be honest. The reality is that I trust what he says, he is the only person I know, who knows about motorbikes. He also owned a Super Dream at some point (well a 250cc, actually) .
The reasons for wanting the CB125T is, primarily, I really like the design of it, I narrowly missed out on buying one myself  . I also heard that the rate of fuel consumption is good. A major plus when I don't have a lot of disposible income. I have also met a gentlemen, who works with my uncle, and he owned a SD too (125cc). he paid £300 for his I believe, although, it did have some minor valve damage, it may have been incorrectly fitted, If I can recall what my uncle told me.

I have a Honda CB125T motorbike. The last recorded mileage on the MOT certificate in June 1999 was 33,736. Since the MOT expired I have not used it as I could not afford to keep it on the road along with my other two vans. Governments are far too greedy and want tax for EACH vehicle that is grossly unjust as I can only drive one vehicle at a time, and to tax in such a way is dishonest. Still what else can one expect from any government? And the insurance companies are just as bad. With regard to the bike the mileage would be a little more than that, but as my bike is in Paignton and I am in Tilbury I cannot look at it just at the moment. The motorbike is an X registration (registered in 1981 making it 23 years old!).
I did take a lot of trouble to maintain it and keep it in good working order, and it has been kept under cover most of the time since I bought it in 1984 apart from when I was using it, but it is old now, like its owner.
It would not take a tremendous effort by a biking enthusiast to get it going and roadworthy again. A new battery, flasher unit, back tyre, and micro switch for the neutral light, a replacement seat would improve the appearance and perhaps a petrol tank if the old one has gone rusty inside and cannot be cleaned out. The carburetor would need to be cleaned, as it would have furred up, and an engine oil change due to the age of the old oil. The engine was last run a couple of years ago. It has a new chain and sprocket and the suspension, bearings and brakes are fine. IT was an extremely reliable bike and rarely let me down, once with a puncture and once because a starting condenser became faulty.
I am wondering how much it is worth. I have asked £50 for it and there has been some interest in it at this price. I wonder if it is better to make a 600 mile round trip in my motor home to tow it back on a trailer that I can borrow and sell it when I have time to get it going or would it be better to cut my losses and get what I can, that may even be as little as £20 which is I have already been offered, that I know it definitely is worth more than that. I may get another offer of £50 but it would be heartbreaking to sell it to that person as it would get wrecked.
It was a fantastic bike, and although I have had several vans since then, this bike has always had a special place in my heart, which is why I have hung on to it for 21 years! I know that it is silly to be sentimental and I have to be realistic. At the end of the day I have to find out the true financial value of this machine in its current condition and how much it would be worth if it had an M.O.T. and how much it is going to cost to go and fetch it and the cost of bringing to MOT standard.
Can you please help me with this query? What do you think the bike is worth in its current described condition? How much could I expect to get in this condition? And if I was to get it through an MOT how much would it be worth then?
Would the bike be road tax exempt in 2 years time?
