I said this a while ago in some thread, but looking at new tyres soon.
Haven't actually been riding as much as I thought I would so the tyre change has come later than I expected.

Also I just haven't been paying attention at all to the tyres. I was running the rear at 21 PSI without realizing Laughing oops. Probably why these shitty hard tyres are worn in the middle down to less than 1mm tread.

Anyway, the tyres I want (Pilot road 3s) don't do a 140/70 rear size which is the stock tyre size for the Ninja, so I'm wondering if a 150/70 rear will be okay?

Also, the front is a 110/70, should I keep that the same size or scale it with the 150 rear and go up by 10?

Thanks mr bcf.

150/60 would be an acceptable alternative size to use.

Keep the 110/70 on the front.

What width is the rear rim?

Hi

Think on a 3.5" rim a 150 is a bit on the wide side

All the best

I'm starting to think stock sizes on Rosso II's would be better than mixing up tyre sizes with Road 3's. Might just go stock sizes on Rosso II's. My friend runs Rosso IIs on his Duke 390 and says they're brilliant.

Either way they're better than stock "IRC Road Winners" even though they might not be as good as Road 3's in the wet. It's summer soon...

Decisions decisions... Thinking

Agreed.

An Aprilia RS125 uses a 4.00 wide rear rim and runs a 150/60/17.

You might struggle to get many options of tyre to fit the rear.

I've had good feedback and use myself the Mitas MC50 tyres. They come in a 110/70 and 140/70. I have one fitted to the front of my Fazer 6, my 600 Bandit and a pair on my CB250. Laughing

IMO for the price they cant be beat and perform very well in all conditions.

Ahh this is tempting. I can see the MC50s on eBay for £150 for a pair of correct sizes. The Rosso IIs are £25 more but there's shitloads more reviews/accounts/tests of them than what I can find on the MC50s so it feels like I'd be taking a gamble for £25, cause the Rosso II's have very positive reviews.

I'm so indecisive right now.

Confused

Low pressure means that the outside of the tread is on the road... Not the middle Laughing

Ooh shit that's interesting. I wonder why mine are so worn in the middle. The sides have so much life in them compared to the middle. Definitely had very low pressure in the rear. It's supposed to be 32. I didn't check them for a good 3 or 4 months.

These are what you want.

motorcycle tyres shouldnt wear more at the edges than the centre from a slight underinflation, however a care tyre will.

Running low pressures can casue increased movement, and increased temperature and thus increased wear. Very low and the tyre can overheat and you risk a blowout.

running a motorcycle tyre a bit low may increase temperatures enough to increase wear but achive similar hot pressures so wear pattern looks like optimally inflated tyre.

I supply and fit them (roll in roll out) for £125 so you best get looking harder. Laughing

I wanted to go down from 200/55 rear so I could put road pilot 4's on but was told the traction control system goes haywire if you do that so had to stick with Pirelli Supercorsa SPs, which are great tyres but in the cold/wet, they like to slide all over the place.

Couldn't find any tyres like the road pilot 4's in a 200/55 size.

The Metzeler M7RR comes in a 200/55 and would be much better for colder/wetter conditions and not a great deal different to the SP in the dry.

Nice one, I wish I had found these 2 months ago but they will go on next time. Not too bad as summer is possibly/maybe/probably not, on the way so I can get these SPs scrubbed down and put Metzelers on.
