Hi, can anyone tell why my battery is reading 13.3v on oxford charger and multimeter. But still won't start the bike, it clicks then the warning lights fade and go out and then no clicking noise. All the symptoms of a flat battery. 2002 sv650s, thanks karl

Have you given the starter solenoid a tap.

Also when you connect battery to bike, turn key on, what voltage does the battery have.

Thanks for the reply, just put the battery back on after 2hours charging and it started first time, the reading on multimeter was 11:6 as the button was pressed then went up to 14v, seems normal to me but can't understand why I was getting a full battery reading at the start but warning lights fading out.

Could be a buggered battery, they tend to not like the cold and will die eventually.

Always buy Yuasa. Cheap batteries are worse than Hitler and struggle to make two winters.

Motobatt. Sealed, Adsorbed Glass Matt (agm) batteries at a reasonable price. Quite resilient and very unlikely to leak. Don't touch cheap unsealed batteries unless you want a potentential chemical burn or some fucked paint after a silly drop. It's just not worth it.

Go lithium. Lighter, safer, last longer and aren't so bothered about the cold. When my battery finally dies I'll go lithium.

Lithium batterys arnt the b all and end of everything.
i looked like long and hard into getting one, the weight you save in`nt
worth bothering about, the don`t like the cold, and you have to have the lithium battery charger for them, so add another £50 for the charger.
let them go flat & it shortens there life, you cant trickle charge them like an ordinary batter, you have to disconnect them to charge them.
anything goes wrong with your bike when you`ve got them installed & you risk setting the battery alight..
Other than that great. Smile

I hate it when it doesn't trickle like ordinary batter.

They perform better in the cold than lead acid.

Don't let it go flat then (they hold their charge way better than lead acid).

And the explosion/ignition risk of some is lower than lead acid. It depends on the tech they use. Wink I've not heard of a Shido or Shorai battery catching alight.

To each their own, if you want a lead acid, then buy one. It was just an idea.
