I like both.
You only have to look on sale sites like ebay or gumtree, and you can fall in love with a bike and then read its a 90s or even an 80s bike.
Then walk into a dealership and want to buy them all lol
or is that just me ____________________ You know you are old when you're told to slow down by your doctor and not the police. |

What I consider to be ''older'' bikes probably aren't that old anyway, but.. I don't mind a few of the newer ones, Panigales are really nice. S1000RR's would look nice if it wasn't for the obnoxiously ugly headlight.
Really like 1098/848's, 748's and 749's too - Ducati are probably the best consistent nice looking models I think.
ZX6's until 2009, and ZX10's until 2008 were all nice. After that sh*t hit the fan and they all look like something from bugs life.
R1's were all nice until 2015 - now they look like something from a sci-fi film.
All the R6's and GSXR's I can't really pick faults in, although I do still prefer the ones that are 10 or so years old compared to the older/newer ones outside that time.
Fireblades all look the same to me, I don't dislike them, but i've never been a fan of them either, look a bit generic.
I quite like the early 2000 models generally. Have the best aspects of the older/newer styling and also pulled off colourful decal's and paint jobs quite well in my opinion.

Older, generally speaking. Stuff like the ZXR750, the twin-headlight blade and the NC30 are very much yum.
There are some hideous old sportsbikes, though - think CBR600F1. Also the GPX600 is so heroically ugly I have a strange sort of admiration for it . ____________________ Chris

I like old motorcycles and cars because they are unusual, by today's standards. I grew up in the 90's, so used motorcycles and cars from the 80's/90's were around all the time. We all like things we saw first when we were children. I watched WSBK and DTM on Tv in the 90's, so I've got a thing for racing stuff from that era, hence my Superbike and my attempt on owning a 190e.
Both motorcycles look cool, both are Superbikes, the ZX10R is way superior to the ZX7R, but I still prefer the novelty of the old 748cc Superbike more. Plus, I like unique/unusual things and there are not many ZX7Rs on the road anymore. There are more motorcycles/cars I'd like to try, I even made a list. My all time favorites are the endurance (Bol d'Or; 8h suzuka midsummer dream...) motorcycles from the 80's/90's.

Suzi slabbies are still my favourite looking bikes.
Remember the first time i saw one at the petrol station at the end of the dual carraigeway by Box Hill when i was about 18.
Fell in love with them from that day. ____________________ Current Bike - 2000 ZX-7R |

I'm a great fan of the slabby look too. They were the closest you could get to the then current endurance racer look back then, assuming you couldn't afford a Harris Magnum or Moto Martin custom frame job. In fact, I thought they looked even better.
Mine (black and red) and bruv's ones:

Had the 11 after, but wasn't nearly so much fun. Looks-wise, I prefer the older ones, but if I could still ride sports bikes today, I'd get something newer - I always wanted to be up with the fastest and best handling back when I could ride them. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

I think it was the first, modern era, big engined bike that properly looked like it had fallen off the back of a race transporter.
The GPZ900 was probably the first bike that looked all of a piece with a full fairing, but it was still too upright - the GSXR was much more hunched up and broad shouldered, it really looked like you could ride it up to a race track from your house, through the pit lane and blitz everything else on the track.
I wouldn't mind having a go on one now, but something tells me that, like most old vehicles, they might not have aged well. ____________________ Things get better with age; I'm close to being magnificent........

True. But Suzuki hadn't done one in the black/red when I bought mine (not in the UK, at any rate). I liked to be different back then Mine was a Dream Machine paint job on the very first model. Bruv's was the '86 release - had the nicer curve of the lower fairing, one-piece seat, and I think they lengthened the swing-arm too. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

You forget/ignore the engine blow ups etc. lol. ____________________ Current Bike - 2000 ZX-7R |

I started riding at 12 which was in 1995 so I'll always have a soft spot for the original Bandits, Blackbirds, Thundercats, ZZR's etc (no I didn't ride them at 12 but they're what I used to gawp at and dream about whilt riding around a field on a DT125!). I do like modern looking bikes, I find nothing wrong with them. My main gripe with newer bikes these days is that barely any bikes come out with analogue speedos! I like to see a needle climbing and glancing down at a needle to check your speed seems to happen easier than with a bunch of numbers dancing like they're on a drip of Red Bull. Still wouldn't put me off a certain bike though! ____________________ I want your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle.
