1st choke lever seems to lift up on its own causing the engine to bog and stall why would it lift on its own ??

2nd the headlight seems to shine to high as in bedroom window height surely this is too high ?? the bike came with 12 month mot so I am thinking this should of been checked.

Hi

Does the choke have a manual lever ( on the side of the carb ) or a remote one. The manual one should have a small plate over it with a couple of holes in it that should locate with a bearing in the lever which stops it moving on it own , a remote one should have a nut where the cable goes through that you can tighten to stiffen it up.

The headlight should be held on with a bolt on each side of the light unit , you use these to adjust the light. A manual will tell you the best angle.

The metal plate for the choke has 3 holes in it, which seat onto a ball bearing in 3 seperate positions, to lock in either full open/half, or closed.
These holes wear down from the friction due to bearing travel over time.

My old CG used to flick fully closed when I violently kickstarted it.
Only solution is to replace that metal plate (or somehow bodge the worn holes?)

To answer your other question, most MOT monkeys are lazy fuckwits, you can adjust the headlight aim yourself by slackening the bolts either side of the headlight mount.

Remember to do this with someone sitting on the bike: it makes more difference than you might expect.
