ive only had the bike a few months after passing cbt. when i got it the powervalve kicked in at about 9000rpm, but it hasnt worked for a while. its a 94 extrema but the engine was rebuilt 6 months ago. the only thing i can think of is that i have not ran it on super unleaded, just normal unleaded as we've only got jet garages and they only sell normal juice. Also whats the sore with cutting the ecu, any good or bad stories or advice as this sounds dodgy to me

cheers for any help...

ps...

has been run on proper oil (not sunflower)

It's a bridge in the cdi that need cutting, not the ecu. Also, your 94 model is not affected by this power dip as it was only introduced to pass emmisions.

As for the powervalve, there could be a number of reasons. It could be stuck closed, in which case you will need to take it out and clean all the carbon off (oven cleaner usually works best) Also, check all cables and connections to the solenoid are clean and connected properly.

Hi

The power valve opens at 8000rpm (give or take 250rpm).

Chances are that the power valve is sticking, or possibly in upside down.

The 1994 bike uses a Rotax 123 engine and should have the SEM ignition system. This has no CDI unit to modify, and also (as Dom_ says) no dip to get rid of.

Using normal unleaded rather than super unleaded should not make any difference to the power valve. However it is likely to cause detonation problems and make it far more likely that the bike will burn a hole in the piston.

All the best

Keith
