Just spotted this..

https://www.gearbest.com/action-cameras/pp_243426.html?utm_source=mail_api&utm_medium=mail&utm_campaign=regular.0308&email=b2t8cGFkZHlAYXBwbGUtdHdpc3QuY28udWt8NTY5MQ==

Likely worth the cash and much cheaper than GoPro. No videos as such yet but may be of interest if you fancy recording your journeys/track sessions etc.

Rather than start another camera thread, this is also a good deal in a different way.

Not for everyone though - 4K needs beefy computer to edit and there is no LCD - you have to use the wifi + app, or buy the alternative back and different case.
However the quality is state of the art pretty much.
Results are stunning at 1080p/60fps which is best option for normal use.

I've had a GoPro previously and aside from the fact it was pretty well built, I didn't think it was worth the outright cost.

The dimsums are definitely catching up on the bigger makes with basic cameras!

Everyone agreed? I doubt that very much.

i have 2 sj4000s, the standard and the wifi, the wifi is good for helmet mounted to check adjustment.

apparently the sj5000 had an issue i remember reading somewhere but can't quite remember what it was but it put me off.

the ability to use gopro mounts is always a plus side Very Happy

personally id take an sj4000 over a gopro anyday because losing £30 if it falls off (one of mine fell out the case once) is better than losing £200 on a hero 4.

only cost £5 to repair mine as the whole front came off when it hit the floor and i lost it but it works as new.

I can comment on the SJ5000+.

The video quality was pretty good, even in low light. It got pretty grainy when contrast was huge, but still acceptable. Time to adjust between the bright light and normal light is pretty quick, i.e. coming out a tunnel.

I've had two issues with mine that have stopped it working. Firstly the up button on the side has broken. The soldering on the switch was particularly bad and has caused the switch to come completely off the board.

Issue number two, one version of the firmware was particularly buggy and caused the SJCAM to restart. Tried to update the firmware and only after flashing realised that there were three separate models of SJ5000+ that have different firmware and have soft bricked it. To reflash the firmware I need to reboot the camera holding the up button. Which is now slightly impossible.

Am unsure what camera to go with next. Don't know whether to get one of these SJ5000X or wait until there are some more 4K cameras.

never try to upgrade the firmware on any sjcam.. the support offered by their site is shocking, they even say somewhere its at your own risk that you upgrade the firmware...

i have 2 sj4000s and i love them, wouldn't upgrade unless they where 100% the same just in 4k and maybe more battery life.

for the price £40 for a genuine one, can't get better for the money.
